As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Brady's left peg wrote:I thought parts of the article from Cross were actually quite damning, especially the last couple of paragraphs considering Cross's "Wenger knows best" stance, this quote in particular stood out for me... "The decision not to buy more players for the squad was ultimately Wenger's. And that decision is being felt at the club on many levels, particularly when it comes to injuries."
For a journo who is so far up Wengers backside he wouldn't dare question anything he does, he has been surprisingly forthright in this article... Bet the won't be anywhere near as forthright at Wengers next press conference, by this time next week he would of conveniently forgotten all about it.
Agree. I thought that the article was slightly critical even... That of course might be just my bad understanding of English...
Anyway, the deep shit the team is at the moment is farcical. Reasons are clear and those reasons has been pointed out here many times. Actually, I felt that this Cross fucker described the reasons quite well in his article. There is only one man to be blamed for this and that man is our very own Mr. Wenker.
Info out today, reported by Yahoo, cites total injuries since 2002 as follows:
Us 888
ManU 794
Scum 785
Everton 661
Chavs 619
Citeh 594
Victims 550
It doesn't say if it's days, matches etc lost, but it still provides a comparison.
The suggestion is that fatigue is the crucial factor (luck and Diaby may come into it as well) and that bigger better squads can share the workload to stop fatigue from happening and that fatigued or injured players don't get forced into action.
It's no surprise that smaller, weaker, unbalanced squads (ring any bells?) get more injuries.
A further suggestion is that players (particularly the best eleven) can't get used to playing together when there's always two or three of them missing.
So our high injury count can also be attributed, in part, to AW's shite transfer dealings.
I noticed this on pravda earlier... a direct quote from Wenger.
on Ozil… He told me [about the injury] once it was discovered on the scan. He did not tell me anything during the Chelsea game, I did not know. What happened was that at half-time, just before we went out, he had a little pain with his knee but it was not bad. He wanted to go on and I told him, ‘If you don't feel well, tell me and I will take you off straight away'. He never did that during the whole game, and after I left him on because we were in a position where we needed to score a goal and he can deliver the final ball. Then after the game, he went to Germany. With Germany, they thought at the start it was nothing. We played on Sunday, on Monday he was off, and on Tuesday they gave him the day off. He was supposed to practice on Wednesday. On Wednesday morning, he said he could still not practice. They sent him for a scan, and in this scan they discovered that he a knee ligament injury which is quite serious
So let me get this straight... first of all he says he knew nothing about the injury until after the game, but then says he spoke to him about the injury during half time.
Someone's a lier and I wouldn't mind betting we all know who that is.
Wenger on Ospina: "I had to bring him on against Galatasaray without warm-up, without being prepared & he had a recurrence of that injury"

This season has been more entertaining for what happens off the field than the borefest on the field.
Some have pointed the finger on the artificial fibres in the grass on the training pitches as well as the training. It begs the question of what the injury list was before we moved to Colney and the Emirates.
