THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Must say that Saints have the most impressive scouting and nurturing set up that there is. Puts us to shame though less so than some of the PL teams.
was following last Saturday's game on twitter as I was working. Someone tweeted that very suggestion and guess what it was met with a degree of hostility.

although Ancelotti wouldnt be my first choice to be honest if I was told Scooby Doo was to be our next manager I would be happier than having Wenger in charge for another season!

I just wonder if Sir Chips Keswick's statement last week admitting Wenger was in control of everything was said deliberately so that if it all continues to go wrong this season then it gives them more reasons to sack him next summer?

anyway this is the first article I have read with Wenger and sacked in the same sentence so that will do me for today :barscarf:

happy 65th you old :censored:

Could it be? Could the tide really be turning? It's a slow burner for now, but by Christmas this year if we are sitting somewhere south of 6th, I think that people will be angrier than shite.
looking at the comments in the Daily Mail article and on BBC live text, i think the tide has either shifted slightly OR the AKB's are biding their time.

i don't think there has been a seismic shift but i definitely think some of the crowd on the fence are getting a leetle bit jaded by the poor home performances and constant injuries.

plus, the money has been spent now and apart from the most rabid JCL AKB's people are shocked that the massive talent we have is not bringing results.

i said on Sunday, two more poor results against Sunderland (v likely) and Burnley ( unlikely) is really going to put the screw on wonga.

i really cant see us failing to win those 2 games. if we did actually lose to Burnley I think the press would hound him out even if the supporters didnt.

Just can not in a million years see the press hounding him out- hes far too cunning for that and there are too many in the press that respect him for "all that he has done". Remember these arent Arsenal watchers, but football watchers, who get swallowed in by the Pravda BS. They just follow the pack, and as its unlikely we will be in the bottom 4 he will stay aloof and respected.

I cant remember someone asking Jaqui Oatley questions for a very long time (Or ever)and somehow I doubt he will EVER allow her to interview him again.

If we get dicked by Burnley it will be the same as V The Chavs and other bad defeats, he wont make an appearence and it will be Poor Arsene sterengthening his teams spirit and too busy talking to his team.

hopefully the BBC will send Jacqii Oatley again for the Burnley game and then even if we win she can ask him "why are you only able to beat the smaller teams Arsene?"

She has probably been barred from the ground, indefinately.
He only wants to speak to sycophants who think the sun shines out of his rear.

the BBC are not stupid - she won't get sent to the bowl where there is less likelihood of a story, they'll send her to sunderland or swansea, expecting an upset.

i think journos are sycophantic right up until its clear the boss is on his way out then they go balls out to compete in who can muller them the most- like turner, moyes, keane, hoddle etc.

i also think that the Mail aside, LVG is getting a rough ride already. the papers love an unexpected failure - me, i'm hoping this a Double Year - Wonga and LVG to get sacked.

The wenker apologists make a lot of how impossible it is to compete with the likes of citeeh and the chavs, but they never speak about the hull's, Leicester's and Anderlecht's of this world - ozil alone has probably cost more than the total cost of any one of those teams, and yet we cant beat two of them and absolutely rob the third team having been given a runaround all night
The reason we cant beat them is that he doesnt know how to set up a team or how to motivate them - a lot is rightly made of his total lack of tactical acumen, but for me it is every bit as bad that he cannot instill any passion, fire or commitment in his team. The very least we fans are entitled to expect, is to see a team bust a gut and playing with total commitment, but yet we constantly suffer lazy half arsed performances which stems from a team that has no pressure to win or perform for their money. There is no demands or instructions given to the players and when that is the case, we cant expect anything different from what we are seeing now

There is clear evidence that there are significant players playing for themselves now and not the manager.
That's the beginning of the end .... The question is how many can turn before Wenger sells them... And create a dressing room attitude.

Please can we get this over paid dictator out...WHAT CAN WE DO ?

(Merson's comments tonight were spot on!)
