THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

It was a bit ridiculous.

Sadly, the only thing that he would ever consider getting up for during the game is to berate the poor fourth official.

Just out of interest, has a journalist ever asked Wenger why he spends so much time complaining to the 4th official? - it's very odd. He should be concentrating on his team and... you know... tactics :|

man has got 50m+ in the bank, why not just retire and enjoy life. There is far more out there than football.

wishful thinking I know. The man will probably spend the last painful 3 years trying to repair his image.

Tis the makings of a blockbuster tragedy at our expense.

WENGER's RECORDS (courtesy of Stelling on Sky Sports 1)

"In CL HISTORY, English sides have led 3-0 on 102 previous occasions.
On the previous 101 occasions, the English sides have gone on to win.
Arsenal tonight are the first English club to ever fail to win whilst 3-0 up in a CL game."

Unbelievable. And yet the sheep flock through the turnstiles still, and yet the shoring off about "17 years consecutive qualification" continues. Jesus. Add that to his other record of 4-4 at Newcastle, to a record defeat at Stamford Bridge, to a record defeat at OT, to a loss to Bradford and Blackburn within a week, to becoming the first side in CL history to not register a shot on it off target in 90 mins (v Barca), to the worst PL defeat at Goodison, and a record shellacking at Anfield last season.
Have I missed any more amazing Wenger records?

when is Kroenke going to realise that instead of paying this clueless imbecile £8 million a year he could just pick someone off the streets to do it for free.

most of the people at the stadium last night would have made better substitutions than that :censored: last night :banghead:

I haven't been to a game since the 8-2 at United when I actually left before the end which was something I had never done before. I had previously never understood people walking out of a game before it had finished. I swore I wouldnt go back until Wenger had left the club and honestly didnt think it would be too long.
My boy is now 7 and is Arsenal mad (yes I feel bad) and is desperate to go to a game. I have promised him that I will take him to a game for his next birthday in February. He has already checked the fixtures and has now told all his friends he is going to see The Arsenal vs Everton. I'm really hoping he will be gone by then......The Club must seriously be thinking his time is up now and surely are just as bored as the rest of us.

What does Arsene Wenger actually offer to Arsenal anymore? He brings in money for the board but on the footballing side I can't think of one single positive that he brings.

I asked this to an AKB on the train home last night who was whining on about how the first goal was offside, we didn't have everyone fit etc etc. I didn't really get a reply, just some rambling about how he deserves respect for being our greatest ever manager :?

like it or not he is achieving ALL the targets again this season

1) season ticket holders renewed - DONE
2) qualify for CL via play offs - DONE
3) on course for a top 4 finish (we are currently 4th) - DONE
4) on course for qualifiacation out of our CL group - DONE

It doesnt matter how bad the team is - Wenger survives because the rest of the Premier League around him gets worse

if he carries on as he has done so far this season then he will be offered another 3 year contract in 2017

Bring your son to the game, bite the bullet. When your son is 20 Wenger will be gone but Arsenal will still be there. I understand your frustration but your lad deserves to support Arsenal .
