A good summer transfer window

Debuchy looked OK but he got injured early in the season and hes no spring chicken so a bad knock takes longer to heal.
Want I don't like about the deal is that he got a 5 Year contract which makes a mockery of our so called over 30's Policy .
Arteta has been an Injured passenger having given a 4 year contract at age 29 and was already injury prone .

Wellbeck was a panic buy but Im glad we bought him Now .

Sanchez has been a Revelation he's awesome and carrying the team .

We let go vermaelen and ignasi without replacing him ..............dumb move ,really dumb move .

We didnt sign a DM , there were loads available but le duffer wouldn't do it

It was a terrible transfer window and I'm not sure how it can be dressed up as anything else, we lost Sagna and Vermaelen, replaced one (twice) and not the other, knew Koscienly was having problems and not only failed to sign cover for him but also failed to replace Vermaelen when that was promised.

No one can say Chambers was bought as cover (for CB) as our new RB is injured along with our CB and Chambers is at RB when we have a RB coming through so have to settle for our 2nd choice (not very good) LB at CB for the foreseeable.

We have been weak in the holding position for years, he gambled on Diaby which is madness and is now in a position where he's having to play two past it 'holding' midfielders there at the expense of better players because we have been opened up so many times with just one here, one playing is bad enough never mind two.

Now on to Sanchez, love the guy and he's carrying us and taking the league by storm but is he nothing more than a luxury in a position we were well covered?

Ospina signed injured and still is, he was just a replacement, Chambers seems to be the RB cover which is fair enough but if Bellerin is ready like the manager said then why is he not in the middle when we need him which shows up the window even more, Debuchy is like for like so we've not actually added anything to the squad and are in fact WEAKER.

I actually think it's as bad if not worse than last year.

Edit. Forgot Welbeck, he is probably the one that was desperately needed and was left to the very last minute, says it all, shambles.

Some people think our biggest mistake was not getting a CB, others a DM, others not getting cesc back as number 10 and some people think the biggest mistake was not getting a world class striker.
That's the entire spine of the team and you could reasonably argue the case for all of them being correct...that suggests to me it's a pretty poor window.
Although I do like the players we have got in I really don't understand how we still haven't got a proper defensive midfielder....its totally baffling and beyond my comprehension.

i don't understand why we didn't get three DM's - schneiderlin, kedhira and carvalho . thats what we needed to get through a PL and ECL season.

Happy with the new boys, Sanchez is class, Welbz, Chambers, Debouchy and Ospina all good additions

What we didn't get was negligent in the extreme

we also needed to purchase Gibbs a right foot, his reliance on his left is shocking, he won't even attempt a 10 yard pass with his right, which for a professional footballer is diabolical.

its retarded to think it was a good window. the dm situation alone that has existed for years, let alone the biggest issue: the unbelievable and plain taking the piss, trying to prove everyone wrong as ever defensive situation.

Robin_L wrote:Chambers hasn't looked outstanding this season. Burnley may have been one of his best games so far, but prior to that against better teams than Burnley he's been done positionally on quite a few occasions. He's only a youngster anyway and shouldn't be relied upon.

He's done quite well, but after Debuchy (who slotted seamlessly into a top team) got injured, our defence was that much weaker. Both Bellerin and Chambers look decent prospects, I'd rather not rely on either long term over the course of this season though.
Agreed. I think he will be a great RB and he is impressive going forward, but he is still soaking wet behind the ears. The number of times he gets dragged out of position by a wily attacker and then in panic earns himself a yellow by going straight through the back of them is alarming, even with his inexperience.

I like Welbeck's attitude but it's a little worrying that I'm starting to miss Giroud  :?

i was going to say that from Wonga's perspective it was a great success - two paid weeks in brazil and came back to a whopping 60% pay rise....

Our transfer window will never be good or complete as we are always short of 2 or 3 players.
