Yes, the Hive was, I believe intended for Wealdstone, but that project never materialised. Wealdstone now play in Ruislip at Grosvenor Vale.
Edgware Town folded. Hendon were stitched up and lost their ground at Claremont Road, and shared with Wembley FC at Vale Farm for 4 years, moving on to share with Harrow Borough at Earlsmead Stadium in South Harrow, this being the second season there.
The club is now supporter owned, and having only just survived over the last few years we are now, thanks to the incredible work by the Chairman and his team, and especially by Manager Gary McCann, beginning to prosper. Hopefully, next season, we will move into our own ground (Kingsbury Town's old ground at Silver Jubilee Park, West Hendon). Thanks to Rob Morris, who has become a Hendon director, and others, the ground is currently undergoing improvements to bring it up to Ryman Premier (and hopefully) Conference South standards. A new 3G pitch has already been installed and FA approved.
Edware have risen from the ashes and already have SJP as their home.
Exciting times ahead, just need more through the turnstiles, the current team deserve it.

What is happening with Hendon's old ground?
Sad to see it derelict and used as a shanty town.

Surprise surprise, houses and flats to be built there. I think the football club will get some of the proceeds, don't know how much, but it all helps.
With Barnet now playing in the borough of Harrow, Hendon planning to move to the borough of Brent, Wingate and Finchley are now the only senior club in the borough of Barnet. Their attendances are more desperate than ours.

When I was a kid and before we were big and old enough to go to Arsenal, we used to go to watch Finchley a lot when they were good! Now I've learned how to Google I see there's been a lot of changes in non league locally; Barnet are playing in Edgware, Edgware have been using Underhill, Walthamstow Avenue are now part of Dagenham and Redbridge, Ruislip Manor are gone and Hendon are doing well despite being nomadic! enfield are gone and replaced by a phoenix club Enfield Town. And it costs ten quid to watch Wingate and Finchley!!

Daft, why not share?Red Snapper wrote:Barnet are playing in Edgware, Edgware have been using Underhill
Once can literally walk from Edgware Town's old ground to the new Barnet Hive ground in 20 minutes.
Re: Football is eating itself
The owners of the new Edgware, in partnership with the Hendon director have invested heavily in making Silver Jubilee Park a proper community ground. New youth set ups, 6 a side leagues, making maximum use of the new all weather pitch. Edgware have left Underhill and have started using the ground. It is at an acceptable standard to their level of football as it stands.
Hendon, until recently, trained at The Hive, but now they are able to use the new pitch at SJP for training, thus saving paying Barnet.
I would like to add that the new 3G pitches are a totally different thing to the old plastic pitches used at QPR etc. Maidstone have been using one for a while now and I have seen it in use (in a virtual monsoon last winter) and it was superb. Their FA Cup replay this coming Thursday (I think) will be televised on BT Sport, have a look if you can.
After the floods of last winter our league was decimated by the weather, so 3G pitches make sense at our level.

In and around London lots of Shysters got in , bought the clubs who owned their own grounds and promptly sold them for Property redevelopment .
Happened at Wingate Redbridge and a few others but above all it happened at Arsenal where a proud old Football club got sold down the river by Dein, Fizman and Hillwood and we got a money making franchise instead !
