Great post Quartz - agree with all of that. Dein was (is) also an incredibly well connected guy in international football circles and given his previous FA duties, very influential too. I know you think I have been overly harsh on Gazidis on here, but he honestly does not carry that weight or key connections
Having a club man on the board isn't a guarantee of success (look down the road at what Levy is doing) but it does tend to mean that all of the decisions are taken with the footballing interests at the heart of them

I don't care about Dein's family background or social class any more than I do Kroenke's or Usmanov's. What I care about is having a figurehead at the club who doesn't constantly seek to fleece the fans at all costs

Most ridiculous pro-Wenger article of the day. Apparently bringing David Dein back is the answer to everything. Because having him back on the board should help improve our defensive shape, bolster Arsene's tactical knowledge, do away with the random substitutions, bizarre formations...

He can be slightly cringeworthy at times, but to be fair to Davies he's said that he's been going since the early 80s when he was a kid. He regularly talks about obscure games from the 80s/early 90s on his podcast, so I don't think that accusation sticks.

Club welcomes new partner in Kazakhstan

Arsenal Football Club has announced a new partnership with Capital Bank Kazakhstan JSC to issue co-branded debit and credit cards throughout Kazakhstan.

The three-year partnership is the first ever agreement signed by a Premier League club in Kazakhstan and will enable Arsenal to get closer to its fans in the territory. As official credit and debit card partner, Capital Bank will offer a range of club-related benefits and incentives to its customers and Arsenal fans in Kazakhstan, such as official Arsenal merchandise and tickets to see the team in action at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal coaches will also be visiting Kazakhstan each year as part of the agreement to run coaching clinics on behalf of Capital Bank Kazakhstan.

Speaking about the partnership, Arsenal’s chief commercial officer, Vinai Venkatesham said: “We are delighted to enter into this agreement with Capital Bank and are extremely proud to be the first Premier League club to secure a Partnership in Kazakhstan.

"The agreement will help to increase our profile in the country while helping Capital Bank to reward new and existing customers with exclusive Arsenal related benefits.”

Gani Uzbekov, Capital Bank Kazakhstan’s chief executive officer, said: “Partnering with such a renowned English football club is an honour to us.
