THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Call yourself fans. More like the silent majority. Fucking whingers .
Yeah. A silent majority the media can't stop discussing!
Maybe we should become the loudmouth minority (which you Wenger ball-ticklers now are) and have another love parade for Arsene eh? Stage another Wenger kiss-a-thon?

That's a favourite tactic - inevitably at any one time there has to be a certain percentage of clubs who are underperforming. It's so easy to scour European football and pick out a few - "at least he's not doing as badly as Rodgers", "Dortmund are bottom of a worse league" etc - as though the fact that there are a handful of clubs performing even worse than us at any one time is a complete vindication of Wenger.

He makes me sick - I can't understand his actions any more but in my view his own interests are placed significantly higher than those of the club.

Isn't it disgraceful that fans aren't happy with 4th place finishes. I for one cant wait to see Madrid, Barca or Bayern come to the Emirates, and rape us, and then finish 4th so we can do it all over again, why would anyone complain about that

Considering the crushing power of Madrid and Barca in Spain, I consider this a more impressive achievement than Klopp's.

Average wage bill the last two seasons: £55 million (1/3 of ours, 1/3 of Barca's, nearly 1/4 of Real's)

He disgusts me:

"Suggestions that the words on the banner represented the writing on the wall over his future were defiantly banished with a promise that he would change neither his managerial style nor tactics.
“I can do my job,” he said. “I do my job with total commitment, I would like you to live with me and see for seven days what kind of work we produce, and you will see that it is total commitment. I don’t mind [if people don’t accept my style]. I do what I love, but I think I do it with honesty.”
Is he hurt by the fans’ criticism? “No. Honestly, no. I started to manage a team at the top level in 1983. If I am completely useless tactically, I am a genius [because] I can hide it very well.”

Seems "This mans not for turning". Of course hes known for his stubbornness, shades of the first woman primeminister methinks :rubchin:

He was certainly well irritated by the questioning over it, interview post match here

He will not change of that you can be sure,if the pressure builds he's more likely to go into his shell but he is irritated by these things .
Thing is a few bad press reports and a banner doesn't add up to much in the broader scheme.

Arsenal fans are conservative with a small C ,we are not Spuds and to sack a manager mid season isn't our style wont make sense ,and the club are nowhere near there anyway .

Wenger will amble along and if we get 4th after getting dumped out in the next CL phase then not only will nothing change but it will get worse .

Like most dictators he feels he is a benevolent father figure not a blinkered Tyrant ! :barscarf: :barscarf:

Simeone is the one!! Can you imagine him dealing with our diminutive under worked over paid lot! He'd whip them into shape quickly and make the tough calls just as rapidly.

He has adaptable tactical nouse, engenders a competitive spirit and comradery and would require fierce determination.

I reckon he'd make most of our squad cry just looking at them.

Wenger, thanks, bye - welcome Mr Simeone (and bring Costa over our way.....).
