THE WENGER THREAD
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
When Wenger leaves (near or far in the future?!), Arsenal's board have to ensure there is a suitable replacement ready to step in and take on the role immediately.
If Wenger were to leave today, what world class manager would we be able to persuade to join our ranks?
My personal opinion is that it is time for AW to head upstairs. However we'd be stupid if that decision was made too quickly and the only person showing any interest in taking over is a Bruce Rioch type.
There must be a contingency and our board starting to flirt with Klopp/Guardiola oe even a young upcoming manager with English experience like Martinez
Also, where are the conspiracy theorists out there that may or may not have witnessed the board showing Klopp round the Emirates after the Dortmund game last week etc!! I'm sure i saw him eyeing up Wengers dugout seat and a wry smile appear on his face....

Why do you think Wenger should 'head upstairs' (unless that's a euphemism...)?baulbag wrote:When Wenger leaves (near or far in the future?!), Arsenal's board have to ensure there is a suitable replacement ready to step in and take on the role immediately.

He should fuck right off. He has no place at the Arsenal anymore, that train left long ago. He should fuck off right now. I don't care if Bould took over until the end of the season. How much worse it can get? Not much I think.baulbag wrote:When Wenger leaves (near or far in the future?!), Arsenal's board have to ensure there is a suitable replacement ready to step in and take on the role immediately.

And the best bit is "Wenger should move to DoF and bring in a new man who he can mould"
Simply embarrassing!
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
No it is not time for Wenger to go upstairs, it is time for him to leave the club permanently. He is an arrogant dictator, who will undermine any new manager that comes in, and not to mention he will ensure that the status quo remains. The funny thing is that some fans think it will be a friendly exit when he does leave. I think that the more he stays, the more fans will turn against him, especially when he can no longer beat teams like Stoke, and will eventually have the majority of fans looking to hound him out. On this season alone, I just cant see us finishing 4th, we have no consistency at all.baulbag wrote:When Wenger leaves (near or far in the future?!), Arsenal's board have to ensure there is a suitable replacement ready to step in and take on the role immediately.

What would be the point, as a sop to his ego or to thank him for the success of the early years? When he goes I do not want to see him anywhere near the club nor have anything whatsoever to do with team affairs.
He's had his chance and has gone from being wildly successful to a walking parody of himself; full of sound and fury, signifying nothing (sorry, William).
It would end in bitter tears (ask Utd) and would be just another instance of Arsenal lionising a bloke who already has a fucking bust.
Get rid and shut the door.
Welcome to the forum, btw.
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Haven't been online since getting back from the match last night but Wenger was getting it from all angles from the away end & also when they arrived back to get on the train at Stoke station. If he wasn't aware of any ill-feeling towards him before yesterday's game, he sure as hell is now. Let's hope he can do the decent thing, put the club before his ego and walk away, sooner rather than later.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I somehow doubt he will. He could oversee a 0-10 beating and still not countenance such a thought.Dan_85 wrote:Haven't been online since getting back from the match last night but Wenger was getting it from all angles from the away end & also when they arrived back to get on the train at Stoke station. Said before that I would have no problem with Bould taking over as caretaker for the rest of this season, not a lot to lose anyway. Unless we get lucky and retain the FA Cup then this season is a write off. The defence would surely benefit and Bould himself could make a name for himself and move into management ,if not at Arsenal certainly at a smaller club. Ozil and Sanchez could be appeased by knowing a proper manager will be appointed by in the Summer.

Also agree that there is no place for Wenger at Arsenal FC anymore. Any move "upstairs" would be detrimental to a new manager. Look what Fergie's stares done for Moyes.

Agree. Somehow I feel that Bould would fix the major defensive problems even if he was unproven.Bradywasking wrote:Ed Hunter The Gooner wrote:He should fuck right off.
