I’m paying £1250 a season and I expect better (24/4)

I’m paying £1250 a season and I expect better (24/4)

usual thread starter… man utd’s bigger spending is not down to a bigger fanbase but the glazers increasing their loans against the club. borrowing more to invest in the squad. That’s a policy arsenal’s board won’t follow, because they have no interest in selling the club. Arsenal do lack a certain kind of player, and they need to be bought. A f**k off no nonsense centre half is the main priority, followed by a f**k off no nonsense central midfielder.

There’s £25m in the pot at the moment for transfer fees and a year’s wages for the new buys – so two £10m players. There will be more if Arsene sells a few that are worth something – Hleb, Bendtner and Senderos are the obvious candidates. Reckon he could get another £20m in for that trio. Could do well on Van Persie too if the medical people know that he is never going to give us more than 15 games a season. Still, he won’t sell two strikers. But he’ll have more to spend if he keeps Bendtner and sells RVP.

Save your £1,250

You surely must have seen over the last ten years that Wenger works within his own budget. He generally doesn't spunk huge amounts of money on players and he generally spends a net £5m per season. Surely you have seen this? And surely you must appreciate the idea of Wenger's vision of youth landing a title rather than BUYING a title?

You mention Chelsea - unique case of a dumb rich guy spending countless millions. Ridiculous when you consider that returns on Mutu, Crespo and soon-to-be Shevchenko (amongst many, many others)...

As for United, they've done it the Yankee way - financing on debt. Watch them in a couple of years time when the banks come calling.

As for Liverpool, you think we've got the edge? We're far, far superior. And Babel could just about make the reserves.

If you can't stand the policy, give up, save your money and don't miss the fact that you feasted on great football.

We don't have the money to splash FFS. How stupid can people get? There was no way in hell we could of afforded Torres last season. Do some research. Look at Arsenal's financial position before writing pieces. I swear, the IQ of some Gooners is scary.

Simple solution, stop paying the 1250 pounds. There are plenty of other gooners who will take your place.

"I expect better". Jesus mate, get over yourself. You're not that important. Your ignorance is unbelievable.

You expect better players then Gilberto? So the captain of Brazil isn't good enough for the almighty Peter Cavill

I'm starting to think we have a few Chel$ki fans in disguise

we are the arsenal

If we dont have the money the club should say so.Why the fuck does Edelman say there is £70m in the transfer kitty. The fans haven"t made that figure up,it came from the managing director of Arsenal.

The fans who pay the highest ticket prices in the country have every right to ask difficult questions of Arsene and of the board. They want to see trophies in the cabinet like Chelsea and Man utd

Great football is one thing but 99% of Arsenal fans want winning football

Really? Maybe the fans put too much trust into the media

What the media reported:
Keith Edelman, the Arsenal managing director, said that much of the funds would go to Wenger to spend on squad strengthening. "I think we are in a very good position," Mr Edelman said. "Clearly, Arsene’s performance and the team’s performance on the pitch has been outstanding, obviously backed up by our very strong financial position. "We gave Arsene a budget in the summer and he didn’t even spend all of it on transfers and, hopefully, we’ll be able to carry that forward into future years. "We have got plenty of financial firepower to make the transfers Arsene wants to make. We had over £70 million of cash at the end of the year, and if Arsene wants to spend that money we will make it available."
The truth:
Fabregas the King has asked Arsenal Football Club and The Times to clear up this confusion. Well the reply that I received from Arsenal Football Club was brief and to the point, after speaking to Mr Keith Edelman, the Arsenal Spokesman confirmed the following to me

When the half year accounts were announced, Keith Edelman stated that there are ‘ample funds’ should the Boss want to purchase players, however he did not give an actual figure. Hope this helps!

It's true the fans didn't make up the figures, but the media sure did. Some fans will believe anything the media put out.

Not only the media reported it. Arsenal.com had Edelman saying that we have 70 million to spend. So you can't blame us for believing a member of our board!

i disagree with your comments about who from the other 3 teams would improve us.

i would never sign van der sar or rio ferdinand. i think they are awful players and they would never improve us. as for andersson i think he is a cheat and not that good either.

From Utd any of these players would improve our team; Van de Sar, Vidic, Ferdinand, Ronaldo, Anderson, Rooney and Tevez (and possibly Hargreaves and Saha).

Yeah Saha... As if we've actually got enough space in out treatment room

Arsenal is a football club.

You have a lifelong allegiance to your club (unwritten rule, broken by David Mellor!)

It is not a product where you can demand better because you are paying a certain amount for your ticket
You can demand better because the club has standards, but NOT because of your ticket price
If you are basing your complaints on that then go to the opera instead

Our competitors in top four elite are in very different circumstances to us and have mor emoney, simpleas that.

Man Utd - already doen their work on stadium, rich owners but have borrowed against the club to about £800m!

Chelsea - multi billionaire owner, throws money at the club.

Liverpool - yet to move stadium. When they do it will cost them, and it may be borrowed against the club.

You just have to be patient and see through the next two to three seasons when we will have more transfer funds.

I bet the author spends a lot of money in a swanky restaurant and complaints that for what it costs he expects it to smell of perfume and roses when it comes out the other end.

I do not spend my money in swanky restaurants. My biggest expense is supporting the Arsenal. I think that when you're paying top prices for tickets you can expect better quality than some of the players we've got.
I understand that the game has moved on from when I first went to the Arsenal in the sixties and paid 25p to stand on the North Bank and our facilities and football is obviously much better quality now .
I still feel that if (as we have been informed ) that we have money to spend it has been a wasted opportunity this season. A few quality players at the beginning of the season and we would have won some trophies. We have been so close (even with our poor run of form, if we had beaten Utd at Old Trafford we would still only be one point behind them now!)and yet so far.
I don't want to stop going to Arsenal and spend my money on something else, but I think as a "customer" I'm allowed to feel that mistakes have been made this season.
I will always support Arsenal 'til I die, win or lose. It's just so much more fun when you win!

If we haven't got any funds then fair enough we would have to pay the prices and put up with it until sufficient funds become available. However if we have got money to spend then we should spend it.
As regards Gilberto, i don't think he is good enough for the mighty Arsenal! Just because he is the Brazilian captain doesn't make it worth putting him in the team. Do you think he has had a good season apart from the last couple of games?

the auther makes good points, despite their riches man u and chelsea have slipped up and some better players upfront, wide and at the back would have seen US edge the PL and you only get that with money and foresight...

as it turns out we had the money so it is frustrating to see wenger lacked foresight in the transfer market...

as for the weird gilberto debate that has come out of peters thread...what the hell! ? he's rubbish nowl would he offer us anything chasing a game against united/chelski/derby...?? its not just been one bad season has it!?
