THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

As for the fans singing about Wenger yesterday, well this sums up why the board act the way they do. Charge extortionate prices, to watch sub-standard football, yet still have a full stadium every week. Lose to Stoke last Saturday, but beat Newcastle, and everything is great, despite being 13 points behind Chelsea. If I was on the board, and seen that Arsenal fans will accept any crap thrown at them, then why would I change.
Sub standard football :banghead: we played superb yesterday.
By 'we', did you mean your lot against Hull? I obviously meant so far this season, not on one game, and even then it isn't near worth the price fans pay. What are the prices at Stamford bridge like?
My season tickets only £1500 block s upper tier, money well spent I'd say.

Disagree strongly. Arsenal ST's are well overpriced. Even if you can afford it, I still think it's worth acknowledging that many fans (especially younger fans and those with families) are being priced out of football.

Twitter and the media are full of belief that there was a mass swaying of opinion among Arsenal fans yesterday. Why can it not be obvious to anyone with a brain that those who jeered Wenger in Stoke train station were not singing "there's only one" yesterday and vica versa. ? Too fucking lazy to think.

Why is afcforever not an Arsenal fan?

Not everyone on here wants to publicly abuse Wenger.

Much as I enjoyed the game and result yesterday I have to ask how is it that we can play like that with a scratch team and yet whenever he plays anything near to what might be considered our strongest 11 we have serious problems?

I guess part of it is when players are either not playing, or out of position when they get chance they feel they have to give 120% to try to impress him.

Problem is when the injuries are solved I don't think we'll look anywhere near as good

reminds me of the mid eighties at arsenal right now. we'll fail every real test we get but it's enough for some to shag the bottom half and finish fourth.

somebody who sits behind us at the Emirates says he is seriously reconsidering going to games because there is just so much in-fighting about Wenger. He reckoned there were 40-odd arrests at Stoke.

Much as the abuse at Stoke is seen as uncalled for by some had I been at station I'm not sure id have disagreed with them at the time.

Many of the comments from fans and media have been given in hindsight by people who weren't there and were not caught up in the moment.

I personally feel that those who weren't there at the station, many of whom didn't even go to the match or waste their hard earned money and in some ways their time might be a little more careful about passing judgement.

It is very easy in the heat of the moment to behave in a way you wouldn't normally.

We are screwed basically, those of us who wish him to go that is, no matter what the way the fixtures are it is doubtful we'll lose more than 2 or 3 in a row and then we'll win a few after, we've now seen as clearly as possible that any good win no matter the opposition will mean any bad results will be quickly swept under the carpet by the fans, the media and the club.

So anyone know a worthwhile lower league club to follow for the next few years :banghead:

I dont get that feeling.
Sure, on the net and on forums people can get abusive towards him. But I reckon the WOBs on here just want to see protests against him - not abuse.

Unfortunately there are those who think that booing him or protesting against him actually is abuse. There is a difference.

Can we leave the handbags out of this thread and just go back to discussing the manager, please? Thanks.
