Re: CL Draw
1989 your post has genuinely brightened my day

Re: CL Draw
Glad to see a few interesting ties drawn, often dont enjoy the last 16 but this should be canny. Fancy you and Chelsea to get through in pretty close fought ties, can see Man City being badly shown up unless Aguero can produce an absolute masterclass

Re: CL Draw
Funny thing is though... When I was musing about the chumps league draw earlier with a mate of mine, we discussed this exact scenario. It's not often I find myself in agreement with 1989 but on this occasion it would be our luck if Wenger did a chavs and managed to win the fucking thing by default!SteveO 35 wrote:That's the 1989 we know and love1989 wrote:I have a feeling we'll...wait for it.....win the CL this season.
3 out of BVB, Chavs, Juve, City, Barca and PSG will get knocked out in the next round.
The stars are aligned for us this year so you had better start believing.![]()
Can you let us know who is coming in January as well mate?

Although it's terribly unfashionably to say anything remotely positive about Barcelona these days, they will absolutely eviscerate City.

i think PSG could beat the chavs, Barca will be city and the quarters will be where it finally gets interesting. god I've missed knocking one out

Re: CL Draw
i hope they do, i was a fan of Barca's long before they started cherry picking our best players - why anyone would want to play in Madrid, London or Turin is beyond menorthbank123 wrote:Although it's terribly unfashionably to say anything remotely positive about Barcelona these days, they will absolutely eviscerate City.

as much as i want to believe in 1989 i just don't see it - i don't see any shocks this round and UEFA will 'encourage' a draw where :
Munich v Porto
Real V Juve
Barca v Athletico
PSG v Us.
no way will they let Bayern play Real in the Quarters, nor Barcelona. thats not how UEFA works, they want grand slam semis and the glittering final.
if i remember rightly, they even draw the semis at the quarter final draw right ? - so the sponsors and advertisers know how to spend their Euros, $$$ and Pounds.

Re: CL Draw
No chance of that! I can just about understand A for Bayern/Barca, but Monaco aren't that big a draw. Shame really because I do like CL nights, but category a prices just take the piss too much. Really CL group games against the 3rd/4th pot teams should be C, with the main challenger as B. Then after that it should be based on club stature. Porto or Monaco are not A games FFS. I think they'll be a lot on the ticket exchange for this one.UlsterGooner wrote:Category A, slightly surprised though this might be a B game

Re: CL Draw
i've just been looking over Monacos' website - Carvalho and Andreas Wolf in defence, Mountinho in midfield and that lazy bulgarian twat up front.....they drew away at PSG in October and beat top placed OM last night.
as poor as French football is i think that as usual the English media is overplaying the 'lucky' card.
they did beat Leverkusen and Zenit home and away, and only two draws against Benfica stopped them winning the group.
i think there is plenty of scope there for wenger to balls this one up too.
