Thierry Henry Appreciation Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Reading some of the comments underneath the BBC article confirming his retirement

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30491577

Nice to see the bitter Oirishmen STILL bleating on about the handball.....personally, I thought he was even more of a hero after that

What a great player, along with Bergkamp, my favourite player that we have ever had. As for the handball incident, well as an Irish person, the over-reaction about it made me cringe. No mention selectively from anyone about Robbie Keane diving for a penalty during the group stage. As for Henry, its a shame we wont see moments like these again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ko5jBnTn9hU.

I think it was the mirror that did a piece shortly after the handball basically saying that Arsenal and their fans could have no cause for complaint about any decisions that subsequently went against them after what Henry did.

I'm still not entirely sure what logic they were using to come up with that bit of genius.

In some ways it feels like he's been retired for years since he left us in '07, but now that he's officially done it's quite sobering.

What can you really say? He's the greatest striker I've ever seen; no one had his combination of speed, elegance, technique and vision - that last attribute is what truly sets him apart from everyone else, he had the passing ability and creativity of a world class no.10.

By far and away my favourite ever player and there are few players in football history who elicited more excitement whenever he got on the ball.

Most Gooners already realize this, but in 20 years time people will be fully aware of just how special he was, because there will never be another player like him.

Farewell Thierry, you brought so much joy to my life and created memories that will never leave me.

Totally agree with you , a legend but never had the passion that Ian Wright showed or showed it in a different way .

By the way the Thierry book by Philip Auclair , quite possibly the most boring Arsenal book i have read , give it a swerve

Arsenal legend, football legend.

He was amazing to watch week in, week out but a part of me will never forgive him fluffing his lines in the CL final on more than one chance. *sigh*

Another Irish man here that didn't give a fuck about the handball when it happened and still don't... point out to the Irish Victims that Henry himself was denied a goal in an FA Cup Final by a handballing cheat..

Good to hear and BFG4 too - just Augie who's still lobbying FIFA to allow a 33rd team in the World Cup then :D
