THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

That stat won't surprise many but it's still a fucking indictment on everyone involved.
Is that true?!! I've had a few beers and not sure if you're taking the piss!
If it's true then it's fucking disgraceful!!
If it's not, then I'm a gullible twat, was totally sucked in and deserve ridicule. :D

No it's a legit stat. Don't know why we bother even taking them.

"Nervous" away at Anfield against the worst Liverpool side of the past 15 years.
"Nervous" at home to Anderlecht, a team that haven't won a CL game in their history
"Nervous" at home to the worst Man United side of the past 20 years.
"Nervous" at home to Hull, a team with 6 wins all year in the PL.
"Nervous" at home to QPR, the worst away team in all 4 divisions.

Still. "Once we get our injured players back" we can get really excited about another season of 4th place and bullshit jam tomorrow
All for £8m a year
:barscarf: :barscarf:
I might as well throttle my own bassoon

Stupid enough with this festive schedule to keep everyone on for so long but to then invite pressure on when we were cruising and 4 times as likely as them to score is fucking moronic.

Seems to do it every match now too; It’s as if he knows his team cannot defend (for whatever reason) and figures if he just throws on defenders willy-nilly it’ll sort itself out.

It would be somewhat understandable if he was bringing on big 6'3 lumps to have an extra body in the box to help defend aerially. But he's bringing on defenders who have never won a header in their career, who are of infinitely less value in this situation than attacking players who can hold the ball and create chances.

I don't disagree with bringing on defenders. I'd do the same, but I won't do is remove pace from the front line, that outlet must be maintained.

Gibbs is experienced and it mostly worked, although it was debuchy who was struggling the most. Chambers isn't the type I'd want to bring on he is a bag of nerves. Ox was knackered, he had to come off. Would not have taken welbeck off, we needed his running power.

Last season we always brought on Vermaelen late on and he did a great job securing victories.

But Vermaelen was a 'last ditch' defender who, notwithstanding his modest height, could actually win the ball in the air. They barely created a chance on the ground all game, the only threat was if we dropped off and let them chuck balls in the box for them to beat our weak small players with.

In a game where we were extremely comfortable to switch to 6 out-and-out defenders and 2 DMs is just plain stupid.
