you aint you muppet, melts like you cant handle a bit of short term pain for long term gain,do you still want wenker in charge in 10 years time cos any sort of cup will give a good enough reason for him to stay, even if its nothing again until 2020 and then is only the fucking emirates cup.grow a set of balls and stop acting like a love sick teenager who cant face life without his bird whos just dumped him even though he knows better things are around the corner but the truth is to hard to bear.but you go on bud,buy all the merchandise, take yourseat at the emirates and believe we are just one signing away from challenging for the league again.i first went to highbury in 1983 fella,so don't ever doubt where my love lies, but as we are I want this hell to end sooner rather than later,i want my Arsenal back, the one I fell in love with cos right now we are unrecognisable

I have to jump in here.

Markyp I really think you are allowing your anger at the defeat to obscure the big picture.

Which is:

The club offered Wenger a new deal this summer before we won the FA Cup.

Whether we beat Hull in May or lost to Hull in May was irrelevant.

Kroenke wants Wenger because Wenger is profitable.

The less than £2M prize money for winning the FA Cup was only a small part of that profit.
Not winning the FA Cup this season will not make Kroenke sack Wenger.
It would take relegation for that to happen.

At circa £7M salary and bonuses per season, plus more control of the squad than he would get at most other clubs, Wenger was always going to sign that new deal, even if he said he was thinking of not doing it

Summer 2017 it may be different as Wenger will be in his late sixties and he may change his mind, but until then it rolls on.

.
What is "irrelevant" is the fact that Wengers new deal was on the table already before we won the cup. Thats just obvious.
Beating Hull or losing to Hull in May was very relevant to Wenger signing a new deal. Had we not won the cup I have no doubt Wenger would not have signed a new contract.

I fully expect Wenger to throw this tie in an increasingly desperate attempt to cling on to the virtual trophy.

That is where we differ.
I think he would have signed even if we had lost.
Would he have turned down £14M in salary?

The key is fourth place, it is as good as worth £20M, not the roughly £2M that comes with winning the FA Cup.

If that does happen - then you do realise wenker's contract will be extended beyond 2017.

And that is something nobody who loves and supports Arsenal (not arsene but Arsenal) wants to happen, no one wants their team to lose, but we cannot have the cun.t managing the team beyond 2017...the sooner the uselesscunt fucksoff the better for all concerned.

He waited until after the cup win though. I believe he wouldnt have signed had we lost.
He was under the most pressure hes ever had to win an actual trophy, not a virtual made up fourth place trophy.. The media, fans and board were all raising their eyebrows and begining to openly question his "methods". He was definitely feeling it. He needed that cup win. Thats why he said nothing until after the cup was won. He couldnt even wait until the celebrations were over. He announced it on the pitch ffs.
The cup win restored his ego and gave him the get out of jail free card and justification to get his greedy hands on the improved contract.

We 'should' be comfortably in the top 4 and able to rest some key players against lesser opposition, Instead, the Cup is once again our only hope of silverware (not that I'm remotely interested in it anymore) so we'll probably keep Alexis, BFG etc in the team.
Not that it really matters. I've never wanted us to lose, but if that's what it takes to get AW out I'd hope for us to lose.

I'm afraid that it would not change anything, mate.

I wouldn’t bother wasting your time mate. We are talking about a man who oversaw shipping eight goals at Old Trafford and still didn't have the decency to even offer his resignation; the man is Teflon-coated and unsackable.

Come back in 2017.

The FA Cup is destroyed this year, well this round anyway, by TV...how many days is it going on for ? Everton play on Tuesday FFS !!!! ...
This was one of the great days of the season back in the day. Now its a joke , weakened teams and falling attendances. Bet there will be lots of empty seats in the sell out 60,000 crowd Sunday. Even the 5.30 kick off time on Sunday is wrong, unfair on Hull fans .
Cannot get excited for this game and that is a sad indicator of where I am with this football club. There are two points I would make..1..It is ok to want arsenal to win and want Wenger out and 2. Winning, losing or drawing this game will have no effect on Wenger's future.

Maybe its because I'm an old skooler but I still get excited by the FA Cup 3rd round and I refuse to let the TV companies or any other modern day football snob talk me out of it. I saw the reactions of the fans when I went up to the parade last year and there were tens of thousands of people loving every single minute of it

An open draw format with none of this seeding nonsense - UEFA could do a lot worse than organise the CL this way. I'd be far more excited by Barcelona having to travel away to some minnows from the Faroe Islands for a one-off knockout at the start of the season with no form or fitness than I would watching them cruise through a six game, three month long group stage with virtual assured qualification. The draw would also be much more exciting when they've got as much chance drawing Real Madrid in the first round as Ludogorets......but it will never happen, as the elite clubs grouped together to get this level of guaranteed earnings from the competition.

The FA Cup is the last remaining proper David v Goliath competition that matters and I will be very sad if it ever completely dies
