The 2015 Transfer Rumours Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Never been that big of a fan of Bony but the fact City are moving for him just embarrasses our club even further. Their strikeforce is so much stronger than ours and yet that they think it still can be improved shows their ambition.

Meanwhile captain *word censored* sits around massaging his own ego about how he's plucked another gem from the lower leagues of France. Still though, at least we do things the 'right way' eh? :barscarf:

We dont buy superstars* we make them (and then sell them)

* - Disclaimer we actually have bought a few superstars but Wenger has played them out of position and they havent looked like superstars and then they've been sold :?

Go back 10-15 years and Reid would be like the Matthew Upson of our squad - a reasonable enough CB who would be our 5th choice, play 10 games a season and go on to have a reasonable career at the likes of Birmingham

In 2015, he is on a par with any other player we have in that position with the possible exception of Koscielny. If he's the only CB that There's Only One will sign in the window then its better than his usual 'do nothing' stance.

Nope x 2 8)

Personally I would rate Nastasic at £8m as a better option although he wouldn't be my top choice either

One thing I will say for Reid is that unlike some of our pussies he does put his body on the line and doesn't shirk the physical side

I know that we are only a week into the new year (and less than that into the new transfer window) but it pisses me off that the only real solid move we have made is for a 16 year old "prodigy" The reality is that our need for a quality physical DM is huge as is our need for a quality centre back, and this need has been shouted from the rooftops by fans, media and existing players alike. Surely our staff who work 24 hours a day would have their targets identified and a plan in place ? Surely our people should be making aggressive moves now or do they feel that dropping more points between now and the end of the month is an acceptable risk to take if it means saving a few quid ? Considering how citeeh tore us a new one last season at their place, shouldn't defensive reinforcements be an absolute urgent matter before next week ?
I know many fans will point to the fact that the club has another 3 weeks or so in which to get their business done, but can the club afford to drop any more league points in their quest for a 19th consecutive season in the be all and end all league ? Clubs like inter Milan are pushing ahead trying to get their business done now and so should any club that are serious about their objectives regardless of what those objectives are.

Prediction - after much haggling over the price of a café latte and a ameretti biscuit we will eventually sign the new Vieira/Cesc/Mark Randall from Legia

Prediction 2 - Reid will sign with a minute to spare on deadline day much to the delight of the AKBs in front of the armoury. Alladyce has already said he won't go in this window for "less than £20m" but Messrs Gold/Sullivan/Brady are nobody's fools and when it comes to letting him go for nothing in the Summer or getting £5m for him now, common sense will prevail. Of course it will be a game of chess up until that point with our wonderful negotiating team probably offering them £1.5m as an initial offer but eventually the deal will be done

No major signings - all this bollocks about Isco, Cavani, Hummels etc will remain just that - bollocks

Most of us will be pissed off to high heaven where as the Block 2 Massive will claim that in signing the teenage CDM and Reid, There's Only One has addressed the main areas in the team that need strengthening

Again i am despondent at Wenger's apparent slow reaction to a transfer window, every minute he delays reduces the options available and conversely increases the amount we have to pay to get what's left... when will he ever learn?

As Augie pointed out, we have games coming up and if results go against us we will look more and more desperate which increases price on players available.

A good team of people working on transfers would have pinpointed our needs and identified players in response putting out feelers prior to the window opening, to be honest we are desperate and a little bit of forward planning might have mitigated another potentially disastrous or painful transfer window.

I know, I know we don't know the internal workings of the club but c'mon our rivals have already made some of their intentions clear so what harm would it really have done to us?
