Just wondering, how you see that coming about? I mentioned on a previous thread that a couple of weeks ago I added myself to the list just to see the number and it was 70k. Now I think I'm correct in saying that some ST holders stay on the list even though they have a ticket, so maybe 70k aren't all prospective STHs. Even then I don't see how it would just go away, even with no CL. In fact with no CL the ST prices might become more reasonable (slim chance I know) since Europa League games would all be category C. I firmly believe that if 20k all at once decided not to renew, then others would come in and fill them immediately.

And you are willing to believe this club regarding the figures they are using ??  Make no mistake, there isnt a fraction of 70k still on the waiting list, and there is a large percentage of those of would not take up a season ticket if it was offered to them right now UNLESS they believed that they could in turn rent it out for the season. I am nowhere near the top of the waiting list (doubt if I am in the first 10k) but I received a phone call from the box office a few months ago under the guise of checking if my address is still the same - having confirmed this they then asked if I would be willing to take up a season ticket for next season if I was offered the chance of doing so. I told the person involved that I didnt think that I would be in a position to do so and I was told that I need to get myself organised because I will probably be offered one for next season.
The modern day AFC is deceitful, greedy and two faced but one thing they are not is stupid - stevie wonder can see that there is an increasing number of fans that are beginning to protest by not attending games and/or by selling their games on the exchange. People can talk about these tickets being snapped up on the exchange and they can try and claim that supports the argument that the demand is still there but I think that is a lazy analysis of the situation - you offer the fans a chance to buy a £60 ticket for a game in a fortnights time and he will probably buy it, but if you offer the same fan a £1200+ season ticket and he might be a lot less enthusiastic to commit. At the mo fans can (mostly) pick and choose games they want to attend, but if you ask them to commit big money for all the games fans will be more conscious of the costs. Some fans are suggesting that the club might increase the number of season tickets available because it would be sure money, but I am wondering if it is possible that there will be LESS season tickets in a few years time because the club will find it easier to sell tickets on a game by game basis unless season ticket prices drop dramtatically :rubchin:

season ticket holders keep Wenger in a job - thats the bottom line.
it is the advance ticket sales that Kroenke loves the most about the club I reckon.

been through this loads of times though - there are numerous reasons why season ticket holders retain their tickets and that has to be respected.

that is why the ongoing cycle of mediocrity continues and will continue of course, although increasingly red members like myself will go less and less as the appeal just isnt there/ friends deciding not to go etc etc.

As Augie says the ST list is a work of fiction. 5 years ago I was about 40,000 in the list. 3 years ago I was offered a ticket but asked to get it deferred. The following season I was offered again and refused saying I would not buy a ST as long as Wenger was in charge. 6 months later I got a call asking if I wanted to go back on the list "for free". I accepted and am now about 42,000. Depending on how this season goes I reckon I will be offered again either this or next summer.

this is basically what i was saying - who that follows the club closely is going to invest 1200+ ? particularly when game by game tickets are becoming more available ?

i have had an ST since 1992 - the first year that they started doing standing ST's on the Clockend i think....i snapped one up and so did others because game by game tickets were selling out on the phone too quick. now, with the internet, peeps can wait and see the tickets avaialbe rather than hanging on the phone to the box office.

demand was exponential on the way up, it will exponential on the way down....

north of 50,000 at home vs Hull in a 3rd round FA Cup tie, I think all in all rumours of ticketing demise are greatly exaggerated 8) (er, sorry, given the general vibe of this place I suppose)

As long as the Club maintains some common sense with ticketing policy (e.g. Cat C for Hull), there won't be a great many games - if any - where the Lower Tier is not completely full. I can shift a Block 6 ticket on the exchange within minutes to a couple of hours. Gaps are most noticeable in Cat B games and (interestingly enough) Cat A games in the Upper Tier due to the prohibitive pricing. CAt C in the Lower Tier is genuinely fair value for money, plus we're far more likely to give the likes of Burnley a good shoeing anyway.

They did a good thing introducing Cat C, but we all know it was merely a sweetener to ramp up the Cat A prices, which they assumed would always be complete sell outs vs the scum, chavs, United, City, mickeys. Now I think it hasn't taken long for people to start rejecting paying £125 for a Cat A game, moreso as we don't win hardly any of them and are usually 2nd best.

The Club are probably looking at 50,000+ vs Hull and thinking "great, we're still in full Fleece mode" but I'm waiting for the day when a home game against United or Liverpool fills only 1/2 or 2/3 of the Upper Tier.

Re: ST waiting list. Not that I'm a club apologist but it seems a bit too much of a conspiracy theory to suggest they're fabricating the list. Even if you take out, say 20k who are STHs still on the list, that's still 50k. Maybe a load wouldn't take up the offer, but IMO you have to presume that most would, or else why would they pay to be on the list?

interesting about the category A tickets

that is the one are that I will have a go at fellow supporters over.
if you are not a season ticket holder then you are a complete MUG attending these games - especially because we don't even trry to win most of them!

Because when a lot of people joined it, we were an actual football club with intentions of becoming one of the worlds football superpowers - these days we are but a financial corporation whose perforamnce is judged on balance sheet results rather than on pitch results   Nowadays I would say that there are a lot of fans staying on the list in the hope that le cock will fcuk off/be fcuked out soon, and are willing to stay in the hope that things start to progress and change then

I think they are struggling to sell ST's to be honest, I had 2 places on, was something like 21k last year when I got an offer but had to defer as already paid for my rented one, took the 2 of them this season and they left us on the list, a few weeks later we got another call so played dumb and got another for my mate, a week later got another call so another mate took it, a few days later got another call and his mate took one.

I can accept they may have made a mistake with the first re offer but a second and third time and for us to still be on the list???

We are still on the list so expecting another offer this Summer and I reckon most that are on the list will get offers.

Like Augie said, we also got a call a few months before the offer checking our contact details and getting told that we may get an offer soon.

The match sold out nearly 2 weeks ago. Tickets available were through the ticket exchange. So unfortunately its only the ST holders who can't attend that will lose out. So expect the attendance to be declared at 60,000 as usual even though there'll be loads of empty seats.

They are making phone calls at the moment to see if people are interested in taking up season tickets. A friend of mine got a phone call from the club the other day. I think he is about 13000 on the list. I see they have not updated the waiting list yet this season.
