Hello, I'm lookin to bring my 9 year old son to his first game at the Emirates next month and have a couple of questions. We're coming from Chester on the train and then the tube hopefully, but I need to book the train home. How long does it take after the match to get back to Euston on the tube realisticly? Also would the upper tier be ok for him?

I'm taking him on a stadium tour next weekend so he will be desperate to get back for a match after that!

I'd allow around 30 - 40 mins to get back to Euston, unless like many others, you leave early.....

I've been taking my son in the Upper Tier for year, it's fine.

Yes the upper tier will be fine for him, though it can sadly be rather quiet most of the time....

It is so variable getting back to Euston, but allow at least an hour or even 2..... TBH I would add a fairly long time if you can, and if you are early then enjoy the sights of London on his way back to add to his memory.

Thanks for the advise. We will be coming down a few times in the near future as he has a long list of places he wants to visit and the train fair isn't too bad for the two of us.

I need to take him soon as his last game was away at Stoke and he wasn't very happy after that so I've got some making up to do.

from the North Bank End I would go via Finsbury Park and from the Clock End go via Highbury & Islington

Before or after the tour you could do worse than walk round the stadium, showing him the posters and plaques of all the past players an what is written next to them, plus the statues of the players.

Might also be an option to walk to the Avenell Road entrance of Highbury, where the front door and old club crest still exist.

The queue for the tube can be very long and with a lad in tow I would leave twice as long.

It very much depends on the score, if its close at the end of the match its more like an hour + but if its 3-0 to us then the fans will have left early and 40 mins is more like it

If I leave a couple of hours then I should be fine. He's really excited about going and want to go to what's left of Highbury. Funny really as he was only 5 months old when the last game was played there, but that's what happens I suppose when he watches the 49 unbeaten dvd every night before bed.

My boy is ten and knows the unbeaten run by heart, he even knows Henry's cheeky back heel goal was the first Henry goal of his life as he scored it the day after he was born , poor kids have no choice in who they end up supporting do they?

Love to see the young uns still absorbed in our history, I grew up looking back on the 71 double year with awe, wishing I had lived through it, knew all our dates of league title wins, FA Cup finals etc

Nowadays its the sky tv mentality where it's all about the here and now, so many of our younger supporters know nothing of our proud history, which is shameful.

Spent nearly four hours walking around and in the shop but it was worth it. Just made the train home too as we had to go to the shard so he could see how big it is

All in all a good but very long day out and he is already planning our next trip. Shame we live so far away really.
