Weekend's other games 1/17

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Villa have been very poor tbf but I really can't see anyone going down besides the three promoted teams unless Austin singlehandedly keeps QPR up.

Wouldn't be surprised if Tax Dodge Harry is gone before their next game, his radio interview sounded very flat. "Couldn't have asked the team for more", well he probably should be because aside from a purple patch at home against crap, they're absolutely shite.

I like watching Southampton btw, they were very good against Newcastle.

Impressed with Saints this evening, and virtually all season.
It's amazing what you can get from a team that all play in their natural positions, that breeds confidence as much as anything else, and a team that know their job, are well drilled, and very disciplined.
Precise and sensible squad management/team selection, added to intelligent tactics. We could do with some of that.

A team that was in administration 5 years ago has now played us off the park twice (maybe even 3 times?) this season and now sits 6 points ahead of us. Still, we compete against teams with "unlimited resources" eh Arsene?

Honestly, I would love to see Southampton take our CL spot if I believed that journos would make Wenger squirm over it, given that he always talks about us being unable to compete with the oil teams. I doubt a single journalist would have the balls to do it though.

Everton V WBA was a borefest last night. The reason WBA will stay up was very evident, that being the discipline and structure Pullis has introduced. Only talking point was the Everton penalty and the selfish petulant reaction of Miralles. Always thought he was a selfish player, every opportunity he looks to get a shot away and again this came to the fore last night.
The Martinez explanation of why he was subbed was funny.
