THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Apparently the tactics employed in recent weeks are not Wengers.
The team got together and decided to play their own way. Wenger just meekly sat back and let the team ignore him.

So Wenger got lucky, blah, blah.....

No doubt if we do lose on Saturday, then it will be back to being Wenger's team, Wenger's tactics.......

You really could not make this shit up........
It's hilarious how off the back of a win with nothing remotely negative about it, these clowns can somehow fashion something out of it. Miserable bastards are so far up are their own arses in a stink of depression, they can't get out of it. I guarantee you, a win against Tottenham on saturday and you'd still get some pathetic downplay of it almost instantly. C*nts 8)

That worries me a lower division side still managed to score goals against us, immaterial of who was on the pitch it should not have been allowed to happen.

I think we've turned a corner, I hope finally AW has learnt his lessons but until I see more determined performances I'll reserve judgement.

Anyone who has supported Arsenal for at least the last 9 seasons have seen many false dawns and decent runs but none of them have amounted to anything, let's wait and see before the AKBs start celebrating and those of us in the WOB have to start apologising :rubchin:
How long is that corner out if curiosity? Just cos we first started turning it in 2005. It's awfully big eh!
You're having a busy night tonight Baba just relax and enjoy the run were on at the moment mate

I see old diddums is back to using his favourite 'C'' word again. Poor Loser - must have been at least 3 posts without saying it to. Perhaps the bloke who cured Tim Howard's tick could have a word.....

This Saturday sees one of the biggest games ever for Wenger. A win would be a giant step towards 4th. A defeat would put us in a really tough race against Spurs and Liverpool. The win against City, although welcome, has to be qualified by the fact that City aren't that great at the moment. This is a real pressure game for both clubs and will give a good indication if we are making progress.

One of the biggest ever games for him? Say what you will but he's managed us in 9 cup finals. And if 4th place is such a massive deal what about the miracles of Wigan 06, Hawthorns 12 or St James Park 13?

NLD is always a huge game for the fans but we are massively odds on to finish a distant 3rd or 4th win, lose or draw Saturday. Now the FA cup games - a trophy we can and actually may win - are the real big games between now and the end of the season.

Right, but the point is that he *did* listen to the players and it worked - so no matter what he says to the press, he knows he now has a squad that can play that way against top-flight PL clubs (in recent years I'd argue our defensive quality was way too iffy). I'd be surprised if the likes of Maureen or LVG would either be that pragmatic, or fess up to it when asked a straight question.

That aside, as of now I'm not talking about AW, but the current situation in general. While it's still likely that we're looking at a Chelski/City 1/2 in the PL, the fact is that both teams are no longer appearing to run away with it as they appeared to be a couple of months ago. Soton are beating us in terms of GD, but we're matching them on points and thanks to the last couple of fixtures we're ahead of Manure on GD and only a point behind. For the first time in what feels like forever, we're actually in a position to rotate a few positions in the squad and we actually have options in defence and attack. We no longer have to rely on running members of our first XI squad into the ground in order to keep up.

I'm hoping we're in a stronger position than we think we are.

No that is not the point - the man is getting £8m per season to build a squad, train them and prepare them physically and TACTICALLY for match days. The players are getting paid to look after themselves physically + mentally and to turn in consistantly good performances for the team, and having to sort out tactics for an incompetent manager should never be their responsibility. I simply cannot understand the ridiculous theory that wenker listening to the players re tactics, and then doing what they want, is being viewed as a positive for le cock - if he isnt able to drive the bus, then he sure as hell shoudnt be sitting behind the wheel

It's also good that you refer to keeping up with southampton on points as a thing to be proud of
