leaving aside the money part this deal has 3 changes as far as I can see

1) more games than ever being shown live including on Friday evenings - the death of Saturday afternoon football continues

2) the 12.45pm kick off is no more - games on Saturday are no more, lunchtime games will kick off earlier at 12.30pm (so even less atmosphere at those games) also there is the option for some Sunday games to kick off as late as 4.30pm. I am guessing this will be for the blockbuster games such as us v Man United to maximise TV audiences

3) BT will have the rights to the Saturday early evening games. I don't personally have SKY or BT but am thinking of getting BT when they start their CL coverage. the fact that they are showing games at a better time on a Saturday is also a bonus


finally lets not even pretend that the FA Cup will matter anymore - this deal completely relegates the Cup to an irrelevant sideshow.

Remember the money has always been there and Wenger has consistently squandered it on his socialist wage policy while refusing to stump up the dizzying prices for top notch transfers.

If he was offered £100 million he'd - "give it back" remember.

I just hope NBC win the rights again in the US when they are up for bid next year. Having watched the EPL on both ESPN and Fox for the previous 8 years until the 2013/2014 season was fucking agonizing and amateur. NBCSN has truly revolutionized Prem coverage here in the States last season and this season. Every. single. game. is available either on TV or FREE HD streaming on their website. Rebecca Lowe is a great host and the commentators are generally decent.

If ESPN and/or Fox win them back I'm going to throw my water bottle down really hard.

I think Kroenke and Wenger are a match made in heaven - a manager who wouldn't spend the money if it was given, and an owner who adores 4th place franchises where he can maximise his return on the minimum of outlays.

I'm presuming you do agree that Wiggy is hardly a darling of the fans though mate? A socialist wage policy implemented by Wenger maybe, but an owner happy to oversee and support that approach rather than drive him out and demand better. And as I say, I doubt the additional mammoth TV revenue will be used to help fans with ticket prices or season ticket loans / staged payments ?

Yes mate. Kronke mustnt be able to believe his luck. ......Not only a manager that isnt breaking his door down asking for more money but a manager that refuses to spend the transfer budget he has!

Then the fans are so divided and fractured over Wenger that they cant get any kind of meaningful protest momentum going therefore bad press is kept to a minimum, the money keeps coming in, all the boys still have their cushty numbers and everybodys happy.

So say all of us...but one spin off , intentional or not, of this deal is the traditional fans are becoming even less of a necessity to the clubs. The " customer " who takes in the whole "Emirates Experience" is more valuable to the club. The only match day money the customer doesn't spend in the stadium is transport costs. The traditional fan meets his mates , has a few pints in the pub, doesn't spend on merchandise, most of his club gear is Christmas presents or birthday presents that he is happy to get because in reality he wouldn't have spent his money on them. This TV deal now means clubs can tailor their "match day experience " towards those that have money to burn. Logic will say differently , that clubs can subsidise prices , I fear that rather than view it that way , clubs will see it as a safety net.

I wouldn't be surprised if some clubs dropped (or more likely froze) their ticket prices, but I don't expect our club to change much - our club show no shame or embarrassment when it comes to robbing their fans of a kings ransom every season, so why would this deal change that ? Personally I would prefer if they invested some of the extra tv money in introducing safe standing areas into premier league grounds again - it works in Europe and without doubt would work in England, but up to now there has been no will from the clubs to introduce it. Part of that reason is that they would not be able to charge as much for a standing position as they would for a seated position, so now one would happen that the new tv money would counteract the drop in ticket money.

My gripe with the ever increasing tv deals is that it will only increase the money going out of the game - if us fans are stupid enough to pay a fortune to sky (I'm guilty on that) or BT/ex scouse tv (not fcuking likely ), then we can blame no-one but ourselves when the price of their sports packages goes through the roof, however giving even bigger financial contracts to already rich (and stupid) young men and their agents is ridiculous and a scandal really.
