As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Sam59 wrote:just back as well and agree on the atmosphere - sedated. But great to see Ozil play like he can. That first through ball to Giroud was sublime. And he and Santi showed no problem in playing in the same side. (please Wenger don't leave one them out for Jack. Jack and Welbeck on the bench please). To have Santi, Ozil and Rosicky on the same pitch all at once was such a pleasure. I know Villa are shit but I'm so happy to have gone to a 5-0.
I like Ospina and Bellerin and Per looks a lot more solid with Coquelin in front of him. Even saw him jump quite high to head clear a few times Can't give that much possession to the Scum though.
Haven't see any of it yet as my sister was irritating enough to organise her birthday celebrations today and host them in a venue in the fucking sticks where I couldn't pick up 4G on the phone
Look forward to seeing us bury those Brummie halfwits later on (MOTD 2 might even pay us a compliment or two, or perhaps the Albert Steptoe wannabe aka Phil Neville will want to break the legs of one or two of our players)
Well done Hector Bellerin on his goal too - well deserved based on what I've seen from him this season and hope he gets a run at RB regularly until Debuchy is back rather than dicking around with Chambers there

I'm not sure Diaby will walk straight into that midfield when he is fit.
Agree Akpom played with aplomb I thought today
Im not sure Diaby would crawl in at the moment
Actually feel sorry for the Villa fans TBH , 10 hours without a goal must be mindnumbingly terrible.

atmosphere seemed dreadful on TV anyway... fair few empty seats I thought..
On the game, thought it should have been done and dusted by 30 minutes, Theo moving to the left in the first half didn't work..in a straight race he will beat most but if he has to slow down and cut onto his right foot it takes from his pace. Having said that he scored a great goal coming infield , but without the ball. Bellerin was outstanding , central defence relatively untroubled. Ospina inspires more confidence in me than Szczesney. He is calm , he doesn't take chances , he is excellent on corners and made two good saves today. Bigger tests do await. Coquelin played well , be interesting to see how he preforms next week. Akpomb looks lively and confident, could maybe should have had a few today. Ozil is subtly brilliant, what a touch for the first goal.
Overall delighted with the day but unless Ramsey was dead on his feet Flamini had to be the most pointless substitution ever . I'm not sure Diaby will walk straight into that midfield when he is fit.
Sums it up perfectly imo. Bellerin was brilliant,Coquelin a shield we need. Best I've seen Ozil for a while. Walcott being cautious (great goal) and I get that. Ramsey has work to do, Giroud, great finish but if brutally honest, still lazy. I think Monreal is a better player than we give him credit for. We are still shit at corners....have always been and guess always will be. Villa were awful....my best mate is a Baggie and he fucking loved the result!
Didn't realise that both TH14 and Bobby Pires were in attendance - thought Thierry might have been on the banned list by now for his rabid anti-Wenker comments
I know it's only shit Villa but you can only play and beat what's in front of you. These games have sometimes turned round and bitten us on the arse in the last few years but we simply destroyed Aston Shitta.
Thought Bellerin was superb and seems to be growing in confidence and ability from game to game. Delighted he netted one and it was a fantastic finish.
Ozil showed what he has in his locker with that brilliant sublime ball to Giroud. Someone above called Giroud lazy - ridiculous comment. He isn't a runner because he lacks pace, and that might appear as lazy, but he shows for every single punt we launch at him in the air (and wins most of them too) and never shies away from linking play. Also, playing as the lone striker in what is still effectively a 4-5-1 is exhausting and very few do it at a constant 100mph. He nearly fucked his goal with a bad second touch but recovered brilliantly with a sublime chip finish. Is he a top top striker? No. But he is a good striker.
Santi is in a great run of form and we need to build every game around him whilst it lasts.
Ospina hasn't been truly tested yet but the signs are good. He's calm, confident (without Chesney's type of arrogance), makes good decisions, commands his area, and seems to settle the back four too. He's taken the jersey and now he should get the opportunity to keep it. As I say, not truly tested yet, or proven, but the indications are all good so far.
Coq looked good too. But I still feel he is too rash in the tackle too often. A red card waiting to happen. But I love the fact he is fearless and if we could get him to think a bit more he might develop into a decent DM.
Only negative for me was Rambo again. Still with the fucking pointless flicks and backheels. The few times our superb attacking play broke down, it was mostly when the ball reached Rambo. I'm starting to believe Rambo isn't the brightest lad out there. He doesn't seem to be able to comprehend that his game is at its best when he keeps it simple. He wants to be Messi/Dive-aldo rolled into one, I think. At heart he is selfish as a player and last season's good run of form has inflated his ego. A shame if he doesn't get back on that form, because he showed how good he could be (when he kept it simple) for a big chunk of last season.
