If some of the predictions on this thread come through, then most of us will be suicidal by Sunday night

Don't care if he's Northern Irish, he still counts. Fuck off.
We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.

Aces High. Fantastic song. :barscarf: 8)

Love that speech. Love hearing it. Makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. 8) I know it's a lovely cliche to say the Americans won WWII but the fact is the Brits stood basically alone at a key juncture and depleted and blunted German aerial dominance. There is no doubt the American entrance into the war turned the tide but another often overlooked and decisive factor was the Russians wiping out whole German armies on the Eastern Front.

If it weren’t for Goering’s complete incompetence, then Britain (inc. Commonwealth/Empire) would have been knocked out of the war in 1940; and again in 1941 if the U-boats had, as was repeatedly requested, been prioritised.

We owe the yanks a lot for helping to keep the Atlantic routes open initially, but yes, Hitler’s biggest mistake (and there were literally thousands of them) was in thinking he could do what Napoleon couldn’t. Once the Red Army fully mobilised, the Nazi’s were fucked.

Hitler’s sheer contempt for his soldier’s lives was a disgrace. If anyone hasn’t read it, I’d strongly recommend Albert Speer’s Inside the Third Reich; it’s hard going for the first 200 pages or so, but after that it gives unparalleled insight into how inept most of the Nazi high command was.

PS: 'Powerslave' is Maiden's best album - fuck, I haven't heard it in 20 years  time to rectify that.

We always play our back up keeper in Cup competitions.

I said yesterday that would be the case - tbh I could understand it if we had a clear number 1 keeper in the club and were giving his back up some game time, but imo that isn't the case with us as ospina is still trying to get accustomed to English football and he should be playing all games at the mo as far as I'm concerned. Everything le cock is saying lately suggests to me that Chesney will shortly be given his place back in the first 11 and that is a disgrace if it happens - I still believe that Chesney has the potential to be a top keeper for us, but the reality is that ospina is the keeper that is playing better right now and therefore should not be dropped out of some misguided wenker loyalty. The tester for me will be if paulista starts against boro - if he doesn't start then how can wenker argue that he is merely rotating his keepers when he isn't doing the same for his centre backs ? I have long since argued that le cock does not buy starters (ozil and sanchez are the exceptions) as a rule, and merely buys players with a view to backing up what he already has such is his confidence in his existing players - I don't doubt that ospina and paulista were bought as squad players and not seen as players who would provide genuine competition for the current players

I disagree about Sczesney ever becoming world class, due to the attitude problems he clearly has. When you are caught smoking after a game, or think its appropriate to do embarrassing selfies after games, then you have fuck all respect for anyone around you, and I can imagine that with his massive ego, he thinks that the club are pricks for fining him, and Wenger is a prick for dropping him. It wouldn't surprise me if he is gone in the summer.

Hope you're wide of the mark on that one Augster because if Le Gimp didn't see the signing of Paulista as providing genuine competition for both our CB's - especially the big cowardly vagina (kudos DB10  ) then he must be an incredibly sh1t defender. I'd be a better option in defemce than concrete boots most weeks

Is that you saying that it doesn't matter what club or what manager he plays for, he will never be any better than he currently is ? Do you not think that under a better manager that demands more from his players and makes them accountable, Chesney might actually grow up and become a great keeper for some club ? :rubchin:

Not as much as Stalins though! Anyone taking one step back in battle was shot as a deserter and if they fucked up in battle, Stalin would line up all the officers at the command post and go along and shoot every other one of them to show defeat was not acceptable! Read 'Stalingrad' by Anthony Beevor, excellent book!

This is going to be a difficult game as boro are unbeaten for some time and top of the championship but we should have the quality and the home support to help us progress. :barscarf:
