Monaco at home

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

This club is rotten. I'll always want us to win but I hate the Champions League. The only purpose it serves is to make Kronke rich. Every year we go through this, every fucking year.

The thing is we all know 100% the pathetic excuses he will roll out and not for one moment will he accept any of the blame or say it is his fault.

WENKER OUT.

Another shite performance in the knock-out stages of Europe-who'd have thought it.

Gabriel might not speak any english but he's got to be given run of games soon.

I would say I can't wait for this season to be over as nothing to play for, but next season will be just as boringly predictable

Unbelievable.

That performance was an all time low - and fuck me that's saying something given we've been scraping the CL barrel for some years now. :?

There was zero atmosphere in the first half as the fans quietly waited for us to steam roll Monaco  the players strolled around thanking their lucky stars we hadn't drawn a top team and dreaming of the quarter final draw  and Wenger did his usual thing when things aren't going well... he changed nothing until it was too late. :x

9 months every fucking year we chase that 4th place trophy as if it's the holy grail and every year we waste our opportunity to make our mark on the competition. We don't deserve to be in the CL if we're going to stroll around like that in the knockout rounds.

Truly pathetic performance. Ashamed of this shower of shite.

Haven't you watched any of our other games since 2005 then?

Only messing with you, mate. We're shit and we all know it.
 For me that honestly was as bad as it has been, the high defeats have been in league matches, usually away, Bradford/Blackburn slip ups happen from time to time to all teams, but this is against a pretty mediocre team, home at "Fortress Emirates" giving us a great chance to have got to the Semis in the CL.

Team on paper looked good, but no one really looked up for it in the starting line up, not even Sanchez. It was like we had all drunk glue :banghead: :banghead: .

Without very major shake up to our psyche (By which I mean our manager  ) we have no chance of winning any league.

Why so fucking negative? Monaco have scored 30 goals in 31 games in their Sunday League and the group stages. Berbatov up front. We were so negative from the beginning.

Oxlade-Chamberlain on at DM? Great finish but other than that all he did was give away the ball time and time again in dangerous positions. Denilson impression for the goal. Why does he keep Ozil on all the fucking time? So disappointed to have misjudged Mertesacker - fucking coward should have been crucified for saying he couldn't motivate himself to play for us. Giroud was a fucking donkey in front of goal but at least the bloke keeps coming back and doing the right things and puts the effort in. The obvious substitution was Walcott for Welbeck and he takes off Giroud, completely robbing us of any shape and hold-up ability.

Where is all this mental strength Wenger harps on about? Mental strength isn't strolling past relegation fodder in your next game. After half an hour of walking around putting no pressure on the wall and watching this average side look like 70s Holland, we suddenly started running again after a goal out of nowhere. Funny that.

Best of all - this is success. This - qualifying for the last 16, just being in this tournament - is the yardstick by which we judge success.

Graeme Sounness is spot on in every word. Obviously not an Arsenal fan but generally seems passionate in his assessment. Really put Henry on the spot and strong in his convictions. Unfortunately Redknapp then pipes up with his usual vague populist bollocks. Henry refusing to lay any direct criticism on Wenger - general vague criticisms and specific defences.

"Everything went for them tonight"

Yeah - your lack of tactical nous, signings in January and inability to build a defence for starters

Tactics?
Where was the width in the first half?
We played against a tight defence who had only let in 4 goals in their group.
We used slow build up play instead of width.
Why try to play the ball through a brick wall?
The Ozil - Cazorla interchange did not work tonight.
Only looked better when Theo came on.

I used to dread going to school or work after a defeat. The way I felt would turn my stomach and piss me off for days. These days, well, I don't feel anything. I am so apathetic and disenchanted with the current set up that I don't worry about going in to work. The guys there - Spuds, Chelski and victims fans among them, don't even bother with banter anymore as they know it doesn't affect me these days.
This is what Wenker has done to me.
What is the point of finishing in the poxy top 4? What is the point of being in this poxy competition, only to struggle out of the group stage before whimpering out in the last 16, no matter who we face? What is the point of signing players of the likes of Sanchez and Ozil, when we know it's a waste of 1 or 2 years of their careers coming to us, before slipping off to some other team with ambition?
Ah well, I guess I do care somewhere deep inside otherwise I wouldn't be bothering to post this.
I must say I do respect you guys who are still so upset by what is happening. I think I vaguely remember how it feels. :(

no, no it didn't . it looked shite.

no way can caz and coq protect the back four when our tippy tappy football leads us to lose possession and then get hit on the break.

wonga clearly should of played a 4-3-2-1 with Coq and TWO specialist DM's or an old fashioned 4-4-2 rather than the 4-2-3-1 he played.

he set us up to get raped on the break - as i posted five minutes before kick off.

my only consolation tonight is that Chambers wasn't left to get raped yet again.
