No doubt we'll make Lukaku look like Drogba

I have been as critical of the bfg lately as anyone has, but if you think that dropping him is the cure for our woes then you are deluding yourself - mert is only one of the several sub standard players we have (wellshit, ozil, gibbs and kos) at the mo and all should sitting on the bench (or in the stands) for the coming matches

I agree, we have a team full of under performers but dropping the big coward of CB is a long time coming. He has been consistently shit (arguably so have others) since the season began and becomes more and more of a liability as each match passes. Playing Gabriel cannot be any worse than Mertesacker at this moment in time.

Agree with everything.

Don't think it's a quick fix by any means. In fact I have said the same about DM - although we desperately need a quality DM, one player wouldn't suddenly turn all of our woes around. Probably wouldn't make any difference in the grand scheme of things.

But Mertesacker has been shite this season and deserves to be dropped, especially as a message needs to be sent out to our mollycoddled heroes. The comments about struggling to motivate himself are really starting to rankle now...

We could sell Mertesacker, Wilshere, Ozil and Gibbs and barely notice the difference.

I would put all four up for sale this summer, though if Cazorla left then I would actually keep Ozil and see how he does at number 10 for a season.

Mertesacker has the right attitude for Captain material, it's his playing that lets him down.

No he doesn't. You can't have the right attitude when you're a shirker.

Maybe 'attitude' was the wrong word used. What I mean is he has the ability to tell other players what to do and is passionate. There's not many others that do this.

As shocking as it is there is not one player in our squad who is captain material. 15 years ago we had 15 players who could've led the team.

If you really want to get nasty you could look at the league table AND our newly released financial reports simultaneously - it will be the ultimate threesome!

Save it Steve, save it..it will make the glory day in the month of May all the more enjoyable...look on the financial figures as the ultimate foreplay.

I agree. He has been shite whole season and will be probably rest of the season too, but that guy has or at least had potential. You remember how he attacked Özil after that one lost game? Has everyone forgot how he was for example last year? He was totally different player that we see now. Something has happened to him, but what that is I don't know. Losing faith to the manager, losing faith to our ambitions or just losing faith on what Arsenal as a club represent? I don't know.
