If you really want to get nasty you could look at the league table AND our newly released financial reports simultaneously - it will be the ultimate threesome!
Don't tempt me mate....all that talk of commercial deals and spending BIG in the Summer......I need to go and have a cold shower already

For some twisted way that is fucking hilarious! I guess we all could learn from you and stop bitch and moan and have a common wankfest over our financial achievements. :barscarf: :barscarf:

I think the is one 2 player who's capable of becoming Captain - by leading by example - Not now but in 2 seasons time - Alexis - okay so he is a forward and I would guess his grasp of the English language is not great...But, his work ethic is faultless and that combined with his obvious understanding/reading/knowledge of the game and his never give up/say die attitude every single game - makes him a candidate.

Mind you I don't think he will ever be Captain - not even under clueless - who let's be honest had the audacity to insult the title (of Captain) by making Almunia captain on a couple of occasions...But if we could 'bottle' his work ethic and attitude and have all the squad drink it...we would walk the prem at a canter.

other than him - Yes you're right - We do NOT have a Captain in the whole squad...and that speaks volumes - especially when yu compare us to other top 6 Prem Squads - where they a number of players vying for the honour.

I agree. He has been shite whole season and will be probably rest of the season too, but that guy has or at least had potential. You remember how he attacked Özil after that one lost game? Has everyone forgot how he was for example last year? He was totally different player that we see now. Something has happened to him, but what that is I don't know. Losing faith to the manager, losing faith to our ambitions or just losing faith on what Arsenal as a club represent? I don't know.
I think you are being far too generous in putting forward those excuses. The bloke said he was struggling to motivate himself at the start of the season and I'll be honest, that fucking rankles right now but I don't think it's down to disillusionment at all.

Mertesacker is just playing shit. His obvious shortcomings means that he needs an almost perfect balance to perform really well. Last season he was generally excellent to be fair, but played just about every game between Koscielny and Sagna (who was not exactly inclined to motor forwards). This year he has had to deal with changing personnel in both those positions and, although that would probably impact on anybody's performance, he just can't cope with it at all.

I also think that when Mertesacker is playing poorly it just looks so much worse than other players. Another CB might cost his team a goal by being dragged out of position and will get away with much lighter criticism than Mertesacker costing us because he's running in tar, turning like an oil tanker or cowering away.

He needs to be dropped, both for the team and probably for him too.

Good advice my friend - its so tempting to have a sly tug every time the words 'profit from non football related activities' get a mention but I don't want to suffer premature Lap of Appreciation ejaculation so will do my best to stay away from the balance sheet and cash flow statement for a while

If I may just steer this thread away from SteveO playing with his todger for one minute.
I imagine we will get the typical handbrake "ON" Arsenal performance today... More determined not to lose than go for the win. I still think we'll nick it by the odd goal though.
Profit above all else FC 1-0 Everton. :barscarf:

How can Ozil warrant a place over Rosicky?

We know Everton will play high tempo and press hard and Ozil will go missing. He's looking like the classic flat-track bully.

I understand Mertesacker being dropped as it has been long overdue; he is playing very poorly. What worries me though is that for all our numerical abundance we only have one orthodox striker, and he cannot be dropped in spite of doing his best Ade Akinbiyi impersonation against Monaco.

Wenger has gone out of his way to defend Giroud in his programme notes.

I see Welbeck's benched, he'll probably have a shocker there too.

Agreed - not sure what Tom has to do to get a start because he works his arse off when he comes on and has much more impact than Ozil

No, every time Arsenal announces their financial report we should all gather up and join common wankfest over the financial report. :barscarf: :barscarf:

Yep Giroud has been protected by Wenger. Wenger will only ever play one system and the only other striker who he has signed who he is quite willing to play up front has been Sanogo

Obviously Aguero is a tremendous player even for a top club, but watching him play up top against Liverpool today the bloke is several classes above the likes of Giroud. Pretending we can win the PL or CL with that sort of disparity is insane.

Who is the poorest lead striker at a PL-winning side in the last 15 years? Still streets ahead of Giroud.
