THE MEDIA: Ex-Arsenal Players, Pundits and Journalists

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

It might have something to do with that if the ex-players that criticise wenger they might well be banned from the stadium. wrighty was very critical in his sun column and within a week was back tracking. Adams has continually been critical of wenger whenever he speaks about the club and he's not even an ambassador for the club. Our greatest captain who is quite passionate about the club doesn't get a look in at the club. I bet that when wenger goes Adams will be seen at the ground more often. Vieira, bergkamp players who have allegedly fallen out or been snubbed by wenger have nothing to do with the club. Tells you more about him, then about them. The Invincible documentary participation by ex-players should give us an insight into those that are playing the AKB game and those that don't.

How fucking pathetic, paranoid and small time would it look if we banned legendary players for having the audacity to speak out against Wenger?

The board/Wenger would look like absolute clowns; talk about a dictatorship.

We are obviously not privy to what goes on inside the corridors of power at the Grave, but it is obvious to anyone that Wenger runs it his way.

Therefore it would not surprise me in the least if certain malcontents were indeed persona non grata, despite what they have achieved for the club.

Dunno why, but it seems worse when a female journo (jacqui oatley) has been banished and denied access to our press conferences - he cannot claim that he wasnt happy at the agressive nature of the journo when that journo is a woman surely ? How pathetic does it look for him ? Really his and the clubs decision to "assign her elsewhere" should have been publicised a whole lot more and at least try to shame them into allowing her to cover his press conferences again  Not sure if it will do much good now anyway cos she will certainly have got the message that challenging arsole wenker is bad for your career

Wonga is a power tripping numpty who uses his power to abuse those who don't sing to HIS tune, the man is a blight on the club and the sooner he fooks off the better. :banghead:

Maybe he agrees with it and feels he has little new to add?

I have not met him, but he has never struck me as of low IQ, the opposite in fact.

He wasn't quoting other jouro's/pundits, but was passing the comments off as his own  FFS have an opinion of your own wrighty......it might be the right opinion or it might be the wrong opinion, but at least do your own thinking
Of all the things you could accuse Wrighty of, not having an opinion of his own is not one of them! He was among the first former players regularly in the media to utter dissatisfaction with the way things were going at Arsenal and one of the few to have the bottle to criticise Arsene, for which he got fearful abuse from 'fans' in all sections of social media - including stick from some on this forum.

That, and the way the club (and fans) reacts to anything even mildly questioning from anyone associated with Arsenal, means few of them ever bother to stick their necks out in the way you or I can or would do. Apart from Stewart Robson - whose views I mainly agree with but who is seen as a traitor by most gooners and definitely a 'persona non grata' at the club - Wrighty is the only former Arsenal player that has even dared to debate what has thus far been considered the 'impossible' - life without Wenger.

Absolutely. I remember his face clearly from those first few games he did for RTE. It was hilarious. He looked gobsmacked at the comments Dunphy and Giles were making. Read an interview with Souness after that and he said RTE was an eye opening experience.

Agree regarding BT. Appalling shite commentary and punditry. Michael fucking dullard Owen is appalling. Is "cliché" an actual spoken language now?

Also, any channel that employs a retarded fuckwit like Robbie Savage should be shut down on principle. Who will get a job there next? Joey Barton? Jason McAteer?

Well, at the end of the day – and to be deadly honest with you; I’ve got to say he’ll be disappointed with this criticism.

He doesn’t deliberately speak like a *word censored*; but sometimes, when your luck’s out, you just miss basic sentence construction, and he’ll be disappointed with that.

He’s is a top lad though; a top, traffic lad and he’ll be back to his best soon – he just needs a run of games.

If you asked me, in all seriousness, does BT have a good line up? Well then I’d have to say no, not for me, Clive.

Barton has already been on MOTD "punditing". BT have the idiot David James and Colin Wanker. Savage is all over the place, TV and radio (He must be cheap since he's certainly stupid). Not many good pundits around really. Keane is blunt and honest, Dicko's not bad.

Well, obviously, at the end of the day, you're a triffic lad obviously, you're not that kind of player obviously, and you've given 110%, but obviously, I'm sick as a parrot, Jeff. Obviously.

BT are beyond belief..Sky slightly better but not good enough for the money we pay. I like Gary Neville and Souness , the rest are pointless..

The worst possible scenario in the world ? A ten hour train journey sat between Niall Quinn and Micheal Owen.

With Robert Savage and Jermaine's Penis sat behind you simultaneously making your ears bleed and fall into narcoleptic stupor respectively.

The pair of them are on Football Focus presently so it's time to watch/do something else.
