Monaco (A)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I don't expect us to win the tie, but I hope that we win the match.

I will go with 2-1 with us pushing for the 3rd and being hit on the counter.

Funny Old Game , with the weekends results the treble is back on for us !
Brushing aside a Monaco team is the hardest part though more as its more unlikley than a Chelsea meltdown !
I'm off the Doctors now these roller-coaster hi's n Low's are a problem at my age !

Another chapter for the 'heroic' second leg come backs that were to no avail is waiting to be written.

I think Monaco will pack the defence and try to hit us on the break. It will take an almighty effort to break them down.

Sadly I cannot see us getting through this but still think we'll win.

1-0 to the Arsenal

3-1, win on pens.

We played so shit last time and could have scored more goals, a goal in the first 20 and it's game on.

Interesting times indeed. Everyone looks almost as fragile as we have all season! The title is gone. IF things continued to shift in our direction, I’d entertain a chat in a months time. But for now, leave it, yeah?

Tomorrow night is interesting; the fact the the first goal doesn't necessarily matter is an interesting line of mental preparation. This team have shown they can go for it. Can they do it and shut the door at their end though?

The mental game is interesting when you look at it from Monaco's point of view. How confident are they of holding it together for 90 minutes? They’ll know we had chances at the Emirates. What would it take to make them doubt? A goal down inside twenty minutes and us swarming? Two?

I said it the day after the first leg. You know we’ll win 2:0 tomorrow. Or possibly the real sickener, be 3:0 up, missing a hatful of chances, injury time goal from Berbatov, taking it to penalties. Where the inevitable happens. Sorry, but this Arsenal we’re talking about and you know I’m not far from the mark

You know it.....its going to be a big drama for sure...its all set up for Monaco, sit back and defend which is what they always do,
BUT really think Arsenal can get at them, still think we are the better team and if luck goes our way could be a night to remember

I see Ollie Giroud has yet again, given a loud-mouthed interview before the big CL game. When will this twunt learn? He did the exact same thing before the first leg, claiming he was "as good as Diego Costa" and then we all know what happened
Now he is at it again. Talking about how he "will make Monaco pay" and about how he has "bounced back". Sure, he's been much better since then (how could he be worse?) but a closer look at his goals show: goals against mediocre Palace away, at relegation certainties QPR, and at home to average West Ham. This in no way invalidates the criticism of Giroud which is, that in the big games and in the big moments, he is simply not good enough.

With all the positivity I don't think we'll even come close this time. Low scoring draw or narrow defeat
