My first arsenal game was this fixture in 97/98 season. Finished 1-1 with anelka getting our goal.
Can't remember who scored for them

Classic video that is, the dog is brilliant, and his poor girlfriend cops it big time. I guess the lesson to learn for her is dont video your boyfriend watching Arsenal throw a four goal lead away...StuartL wrote:Any one venture up last season ?

I always did worry for his dog and wife and wondered if they survived.remigardeshair wrote:Classic video that is, the dog is brilliant, and his poor girlfriend cops it big time. Mind you if you multiply his mood by 100 then that was my reaction when Eboue gave away that 99th minute penalty against the Scousers that time!!

My first home game was against Newcastle!
A 7-3 win, VERY much enjoyed from the clock end lower!

They looked pretty rough last week against Everton, we'll get the 0-3 we couldnt in monaco!

Sorry Brady he didnt score in the win there , I was there , terrifying experience ,Il keep it short but it was a long old day and started with a set to on kings cross station at 0900 hrs with london based geordies and another at Durham as they tried to terrorise the 60 or so Arsenal who went that day .Supermac scoring two up there in 1977 on his first return to Newcastle...Stevie Bould in 1988..and Denis in 02...St James park..first ever ground I visited in England.... Newcastle v Nottingham Forest..1987..a very young Gazza in a very poor Newcastle side beaten 1-0 by Forest on a building site..
We were told by a london based Geordie that the best place to go was in the gallowgate paddock , Arsenals firm that day consisted of 4 of us 2 aged 14 me @ 19 and and 18 year old, we sneaked in after having grief since we arrived in newcastle and walked on to the terrace only to be sussed right off the bat by our clothes ,and our Geordie mate looking very sheepish but he did try and stop the slaughter .
We were told we would be beaten up at half time but we argued for the nippers and they agreed to let the 2 kids go and they walked round the pitch to the safety of the main stand . There was no way out so Me and Colin decided that if we were going to get a kicking we would first get some anesthetic inside us . In the space of 45 mins we drank 7 pints of Newcastle Exhibition and 7 whiskey chasers which on top of what we had had before meant we were fucking pished when the Geordie Grizzlies descended upon us . Trying in vain to stand straight to accept the inevitable, the Geordie lads saw our clearly inebriated carcasses and asked the barman what we had had , hearing the reply they cracked up laughing gave us a thundering cheer and then bought us even more ale then took us on to the terrace for the second half , we won 2-1 stapleton and sunderland scored but i hardly saw a thing i was off my nut . The geordie lads practically carried me back to the station before buying us yet more drinks . A great day was rounded of by getting a shag of dirty Julie on the long train journey home !

Supermac did receive a death threat before or possibly after that game. Herd..thought he had scored but obviously not. Remember being there and being told of a kip of a pub near the Gallowgate End. The urinal was a mural of Sunderland's 1973 FA Cup winning team.
Dirty Julie
, is long train journey home a euphemism ?

First time I ever went there, saw a completed 'HANGMAN' puzzle graffitied on the wall outside the away end :
'C O C K N E Y' it read, next to the completed hangman image
(So I'm not entirely sure who won that round, as both phrase and the image were fully completed, as normally it is one or the other)

My two personal favorites for wall writing were "Cockneys will die" nearing Lime Street and a number on the walk to the City Ground the First saying "Cockneys turn back here" ,then further up it said "you've been warned" before the last in massive letters "this is your last chance to shit out and run" 100 yards further was the bridge !TheCook wrote:First time I ever went there, saw a completed 'HANGMAN' puzzle graffitied on the wall outside the away end :
