FA Cup Winners and League Runners Up
If we achieve that in May, is it progress and will you be happy?
Re: FA Cup Winners and League Runners Up
Please keep this on topic. If it becomes another Wenger moan fest, we'll set Quartz on it.
To answer the question, no and no.

Re: FA Cup Winners and League Runners Up
I'll be happy with another FA cup but the same frailties are there just the same as season after season after season ........ I'll take it but until we genuinely challenge for the title I won't be happy
Re: FA Cup Winners and League Runners Up
I'd be happy with that this season BUT we have to be seriously challenging for the title regularly to be progressing.
And with the players and money available that's the least we should expect.

Re: FA Cup Winners and League Runners Up
When we used to finish second it was because we had challenged for the title but just fallen short, however, if we get second this year, it will be because we were less shit than those who would be below us.
Another FA cup would be great, but would be little consolation for another lacklustre season, in which we aimed for and achieved, financial success over league and european success.

Re: FA Cup Winners and League Runners Up
ok first of all I do not believe this will be achieved because we will probably need to get results v Liverpool, United and Chelsea in the league and have a much tougher FA Cup final this season compared to last year.
IF however this is achieved then yes I think we all should be pleased because it will represent progress because we would have got the results I mentioned above. It will also be Wenger's joint 4th most successful season at the club. we were happy with 2003 and 2005 so we should be happy with this - and I am no AKB

I'm always happy with a season that ends in a trophy.
I am not happy that our league challenge was effectively over in October.
It is not progress because the level of competition has slipped this year (City, Liverpool, Everton, City all markedly worse).

Re: FA Cup Winners and League Runners Up
It would be hard to argue that it's not progress as it would be BUT it would be nothing different to previous seasons and we will always think 'what if' that is the problem and always will be while Wenger is in charge.
Re: FA Cup Winners and League Runners Up
It's even more galling because we are (mathematically) close but realistically miles from winning the league, and lets be honest, Chelsea are just an average team in a poor league,as shite as the top 4 are we still wont win the league, and that's frustrating as fuck.gp543 wrote:I'm always happy with a season that ends in a trophy.

Regardless of opposition, the final can't be less harder than last year.Gunner Rob wrote:ok first of all I do not believe this will be achieved because we will probably need to get results v Liverpool, United and Chelsea in the league and have a much tougher FA Cup final this season compared to last year.

If we retain the FA Cup and finish second it'll be 'Wengers greatest ever achievement'

Re: FA Cup Winners and League Runners Up
runners up in the weakest premier league weve witnessed since it began (and that's saying something as last year was piss poor)having been out of title contention since September,NO I WOULDNT BE F'KIN HAPPY EVEN IF WE DID RETAIN THE F.A CUP.we look like we are standing still and that's only because, spuds, scousers and utd have been shite making us look better

Re: FA Cup Winners and League Runners Up

I just don't get this view, yes, they have been shit but we have still accumulated more points then them and less then the leaders so regardless of the strength of the league or any other circumstances you want to throw in to help protect your own rigid view IF we finish second it would be because we WERE the second best team in the division in this season, you can't dance around that.

Progress? Definitely. Let's face it, it's the best we could achieve this year and it won't be easy, but it would need to be the platform to challenge next year.
