I wouldn't call it meaningless.

We want to ensure a top three finish so that we avoid a CL play-off and the inevitable wait for any signings depending upon the outcome of it. It would be nice to be in the position to make signings early.

At the very least it removes the excuse that AW always trots out about not being able to sign players as we don't know if we're in the CL or not. Whilst we all pretty much know that the excuses are bullshit at least there would be nowhere to hide this year!

Let's get third at the least, or preferably second and then see what happens.

Yeah I know what you mean but regardless of the result on Sunday I think 3rd is the lowest we'll finish, it's a straight battle between ourselves and united for it. We have Swansea, Sunderland and West Brom at home and West Brom and United away. We should take 10 points from a possible 15 there which would mean City would have to win all their remaining fixtures to finish above us, something which I reckon that shower of mercenaries are incapable of.

But hey if I'm wrong and we're in a qualifying game against the 3rd best team in Belarus next August you can always put me on the *word censored* thread.............again

On the issue of Cesc, I don't think he should be booed, but I don't get why he is treated differently than RVP. In Cesc's last season, he sulked until he could leave. In RVP'S last season, he scored 30 goals, and at the end of the season he sat down with Wenger, wanting to know what direction the club was going in, and when he wasn't happy with it, he left. RVP was a prick for going to United, but the same could be said for Cesc, who went to a classless club when he left Barca. A club that is managed by a prick.

Absolutely not. I can't believe anyone is still believing or trying to sell this horseshit. VanJudas sat on the treatment bench getting paid millions year after year for 7 years. He had no problem with our "ambitions" during that time, whilst we stayed loyal to him, paid him millions, when any other club would have cut their losses. Then the judas cúnt has that one amazing season, ups his profile and decides now he has issues with our ambitions?! Do me a fucking favour. Then the cúnt cashed in his one good season to get the move to manure. Why not request a move when he was constantly injured? We were underachieving throughout that time too. If ever any cúnt owed The Arsenal some loyalty it was that despicable cúnt.

Fabregas certainly acted the wanker towards the end of that last season but he gave everything during every other season.

I dont fucking care about Fabregas ,he's gone we didn't re-sign him I'm soooooooooo over it !
I only care about beating them and that will depend largely on the Tactical Nous of our great manager .
If we return to the style we were using in winning the last 8 league games I think we can win .
If we play the set up we did against Reading with Ozil and Ramsey both wide left n right we will get caught on the break and will lose.
Chelsea dont need to win , actually we dont need to win a draw will do , we should make sure we dont lose but I would lobve it if we could finally turn the special one right over !

A few Sing Gooners over for this one

Raking over old ground here but agree re : RVP 'Didn't match your ambitions?' Yes mate, you didn't match our ambitions by sitting on the treatement table for seven years either.

Yep, it's old ground Cook, agreed. But you know one of the things that pissed me off the most about the VanJudas saga? The extreme Wenger-hating Gooners that hoisted their flag to RVJC's mast as if what he did was for the good of the club, or was somehow morally right.

I too want Wenger gone, but I don't allow that to blind me to the truth. And the truth is VanJudas betrayed the loyalty that the fans and the club showed him, whilst we made him rich. To suddenly find his "ambition" after 7 years festering on his arse collecting a huge pay check is moronic and deceitful. The cheek of the bastard. :x

I put him on a par with Cashley.

Fans/media have this romantic myth about loyalty in football but it's always a one way street, there's no loyalty from the club towards the players, they perform a service & when they can't do it to a certain level it's adios. That's not necessarily a bad thing of course & one could argue it's actually a fault of ours not being ruthless enough, If Diaby, Arteta, Flamoney, Sanogoals, Szczesny etc were fucked off this summer we'd have a fucking party.

It's true that he gave us just one full season, but it's also true that the clubs ambitions were/are to finish 4th & he was coming to the end of his career with no hope of winning the league.

I'm one of those who hold Wenger more accountable for the transfer then RVP, when it happened I wasn't in the least bit shocked. Had Wenger actually built a title winning side RVP would still be here, RVP was playing with the likes of Bendtner, Squilaci, Silvestre, Almunia, Denilson *shudders*

Every top player should want to win the top trophies, it's the club & managers job to make this a suitable place for that, the fact is the RVP transfer was a consequence of Wenger failing to do his job.
