Jimmy Greaves
I know he played for the scum but none the less it's a shame to hear that he is unwell. Having such a severe stroke at 75 years old it is unlikely that he'll recover.
Re: Jimmy Greaves
I know baddiel and skinner used to take the piss out of saint and greavsie (actually watched an old episode on youtube yesterday
) but I liked the programme - get well wishes greavsie

Re: Jimmy Greaves
Grew up watching him and St.John. Always came across as a decent bloke. Fantastic player for all his clubs and England and was as clinical as they came. Top, top player.
Having said all that, the thing that should have truly elevated him to legendary status among gooners is the comments he made about Arsenal in his autobiography.
Get well soon Jimmy.

A decent man by all accounts and always spoke well and respectfully of The Arsenal. Get well soon.

I should have clarified that it was an old episode of bbc's Fantasy Football that I watched on youtube - it was the episode with sean bean where they showed the clip of him from lady chatterly's lover and I still nearly based myself laughing at parts of it

Re: Jimmy Greaves
I wish him well. He was probably the best striker this country has ever produced. Barely received recognition for his footballing abilities as he was rather outspoken against the FA. Overcame his drink demons, became a household name with a ground breaking football show alongside Ian St.John, which soccer am took its DNA from. Only wished he pulled on an Arsenal shirt. From memory he always spoke highly of The Arsenal as a club, being a different class from the rest. Still holds goalscoring record for the spuds. A true Football legend.

Re: Jimmy Greaves
“It hurts me to say this, because I was proud to be a part of probably the greatest team in the world during my time at White Hart Lane. Yet even when we had Bill Nicholson as manager and the likes of Dave Mackay, Cliff Jones, Danny Blanchflower and myself, Spurs still lived in the shadow of Arsenal. In the early 1960s, Spurs had a great manager and a great team. But they have NEVER been a great club.”
Good luck Jim - hope you make a speedy recovery !
