A goal poacher certainly, but I still argue that he isn't pacy enough to be the lone striker in our system

Oh yes, a player can't be sold if he renews his contract can he? And it certainly, wouldn't be renewed so Barca can get more than the mooted £8m for him could it... :rubchin:

Aaah now this is more like it. It's like the Higuain saga from summer 2013 all over again! Unlike out club to try low-ball eh...

Do you not think that Arsenal are in a stronger position to do this now due to Napoli being in a weaker position than Madrid were in?

I'm still not sure there's any truth in this story but it looks a clear case of Napoli needing to sell the player more than Arsenal needing to buy him so can't knock the tactic of trying to get him for the right price.

You wouldn't go and hand Liverpool 40m for Sterling just because they want it because you know circumstances are not in their favour so this is no different.

Giroud is pretty snail like and he seems to work well in this system, only thing that let's him down (and why he needs to be replaced) is his finishing so not sure it's that big a deal.

But our system, and the players within that system, need a pacy top quality (hence not wally) striker to play passes for them to run onto - it makes no sense to have a gameplan built around speed of thought and constant movement, if you then have a snail-like static striker at it's focal point

If we were able to sign a pacey accurate/natural out and out striker - with the skillful players we have like Santi, Ozil and Alexis to feed them - our goal scoring would improve dramatically.

We ALL know we need a Quality Striker, a DMF, another CB and a GK... get those and the Prem Title could very well be ours....The thing is we have Wenger (Tight Wad) as manager who controls the purse strings...so it ain't gonna happen...Sad and Hugely Frustrating...but TRUE.

I don't think Giroud does work well in our system. The conjunction of clever runs and intelligent passing into space creates chances. Giroud is too slow to lose defenders and hobbles Ozil, Alexis etc because of it.
Theo showed what you can achieve when you've got pace. Unfortunately, his first touch and finishing are way off the mark.

A top striker has got to be our No.1 priority.

Meh, to Benzema and Higuain rumours.
Not even in the last three years would I have wanted them, but to try and sign them now? .. Bullshit madness business.
May as well get Kalou
Giroud isn't the answer, but maybe Jackson Martinez is.
Fuck off Higgy and Benzy, we don't need you.

Standard Arsenal summer is coming...

10 years without a league title or CL but "minor tweaking" only required.

Your modesty knows no bounds mc

Can I just say that in general terms I don't agree with that thought process - we are The Arsenal and should be able to attract and sign players who are "not available". The big clubs identify players they want and then move heaven and earth to buy them players - it doesn't always work that way of course because on some occasions the player will not want to move or his club will refuse to sell regardless of how much money is on offer, but frequently players will become unsettled when a big club wants to sign them and then a player that wasn't available is suddenly available for the right money
We are lucky to be able to have players like sanchez and ozil in our club and on that we all agree, but I don't accept that their signings indicates a huge change in wenker's transfer policy - the reality is that both of these players were made available by their previous clubs and if that had not been the case then le cock would not have pursued them.
We should, in my opinion at least, be far more aggressive in our transfer activity and if we identify a top player that we need, then wenker/law/gazidas should move heaven and earth to sign the player. Maybe this summer is a bit more complicated than that because we, in my opinion, need 3 or 4 quality signings for the spine of our team - generally players in those positions will cost more money so going out and offering huge money for any one player might not be workable
