2008-2011 squad winning premier league.

Post by Nos89 »

Is anyone else getting fed up with ex players from 2008-2011 signing for utd, citeh, and chelski then winning the league title, yet couldn't even win the Emirates cup with us?
Cesc, rvp, nasri, Clichy, Toure and if rumours are true about song being linked with citeh and chelski, no doubt another one will

Depressing as it is i'm not sure how to interpret it, or whether we should even bother.

For me it is more a reflection that our team as a whole was lacking with or without those individuals than on them as individuals.

I don't think there's any real evidence with the possible exception of Cesc this season that those teams they joined would have not won their titles without those players.

It could be said that those lucky bastards got into those teams just at the right time and with a bunch of highly motivated and skilled players around them.

We were unlucky to have those individuals all together and they just didn't work well enough as a team.

It's a funny one for me, they all won titles but they've also all been found out over time, had they been here they would still be regular first teamers doing the same thing they always did together which was fall short and bottle in, van Persie left, won his title and is now on the verge of getting cast aside, Clichy is a back up, Song and Adebayor are not wanted by their clubs, Cesc got chewed up and spat out by Barcelona, Nasri has been hit and miss.

The team we have now is much better and has something about it, say what you want with regards to strengthening or players not being good enough ie Giroud up front BUT would that 08 squad have been able to cope under pressure in the Cup Final against Hull at 2 nil down? We saw how they coped with pressure in the CL semi against UTD and CC Final against Birmingham, they were weak mentally.

The 08 team will look back at their medals and bank accounts but I think most will feel a little dead inside because none will end their careers loved and I'm not sure their egos will like that because they all had good starts.

Watching them win stuff no longer irritates me, Cesc did last year as did van Persie but signing Cech evens that out and watching van Persie getting hate from UTD fans online balances out his achievement.

Would you say the same about Sanchez ? Cesc was fighting for a place alongside all time greats in Iniesta and Xavi and Sanchez was replaced by Neymar and Suarez. That doesnt make Cesc and Sanchez anything but great players which they proved last season

I don't think the Barcelona board spoke out as badly about Sanchez as they did with Cesc, Cesc got quite slated didn't he? Talked about how his form dipped off and was made to look pretty worthless at the end.

Wasn't really anything to do with getting replaced as that happens at those clubs.

Cesc got spit out by Barca because they played him as a fucking striker 70% of his games because they were too fucking scared to get rid of Xavi at the time. Cesc is a pure CM that plays better from slightly deeper. Mourinho knew exactly where to play him.
