It may never be as big as the mens game but then nobody expects it to be and I'm sure that those involved would be the first to say so. These women are athletes representing our country like any others in any other sport and deserve some support.
I agree (never thought I would see the day! :barscarf: )

My daughter aspires to be a professional footballer and I would like to think she would actually get some support if she was lucky enough to do so!

Don't worry, you'll recover.
I do support it. That's why I've watched a few games. I hadn't seen any womens football since the Olympics and I heard all the hype about how much the women's game has progressed etc, but it's clear that the reality is very different. I was disappointed at how poor most of the skills are. They are reasonably organised at the back but the games were so devoid of skill that they were really boring. Additionally, while a few players do look genuinely talented, every team appears to have a few players who are cringingly awful.
What bugs me most though is not the game itself, but the 'right-on' media types who (very patronsingly) prattle on about how unfair it is that Messi earns blah blah euros but the women earn less, and the women's game doesn't get the coverage it should, blah blah ...
I'm sure the women are committed to the cause and I really want the England team to win, because I'm English; just as I want the hockey, archery, wáter polo and chess teams to win. However, I won't be watching them.

Good luck to the team and i'll probably watch the match and support them, but as has been said by others the quality other than a few individuals is just not there, sorry but it's true.

I don't watch lower league football for the same reason, i like to watch top level sports and to be honest it's the world cup it's supposed to be the best in the world, woman's football is getting better but it is no where near at a level where i'd consider watching it on a regular basis.

That's not chauvinism it's just the way i personally see it.

I'll be honest me and a Geordie at work were talking about it the other day and we put it down to the fact that for some reason top class woman's football doesn't seem to flow the same way as men's but we couldn't actually pin point exactly why?!?

At the end of the day it is getting people involved in sport and giving people something to inspire to, which is a great thing. It does feel a bit like it's being rammed down our throats all of a sudden but it's hardly wall-to-wall prime-time coverage.

That said I don't see why I shouldn't be able to make crass and sexist remarks about the players and the quality! :barscarf:

I was impressed with taylor - she's clearly been taking tips on work rate from Alexis Sanchez :barscarf:

Amazed she only made her international debut in 2014. She's 29  is England's talent pool so deep that they can ignore Taylor for the first decade of her career?

Meant to ask did you do your sewing on the sewing machine whilst you were watching the game? :high5:

I am no expert on the women's game.

But from what i have seen, there is no doubt the commitment, work rate and passion is there. Also nice to see they don't roll around on the floor to much when they have been tackled.

But i have noticed it seems to be more kick and run, and one pass football. No doubt some of them do have some skill, but it seems with a lot of female players it's more luck than judgement :D :D
