Unfortunately it just shows how far off the pace we were ( 1 or 2 percent away ????) when the Chelsea reserve keeper together with a Barca outcast and a Real offshoot strengthen our first 11 considerably.

Now we just need to wait for Juventus and Bayern to make stella signings to give us their leftovers and we may make a challenge at last for the title. :barscarf:

One position out of the 4 we arguably need to push on.......

lets hope we keep working 24 hours a day, 8 days a week in the market :barscarf:

Real happy with the signing of Cech...
The first GK to be worthy of that name ever since Mad Jens left (even though I think that Cech is better than Jens... Not half as entertaining ..but that's another story ;-) )
I hope that he gives his former manager a two finger salute during the community shield !! :barscarf:

Now , let's get a DMF and a striker in and then I think we should be ready for next season.
Ps. I don't think AW will ever for Vidal after his 'heroics' off the pics , so I don't get my hopes up on that one

We have to welcome Cech as he is simply better than anyone else we have in the sticks. Although he is not the keeper he was since his head injury.

I seriously doubt we will sign a DM as Le Coq is worth £40m!

I think the rumours regarding Lacazette (I spelt his name wrong no doubt) have the hint of a Wenger type signing.

The reality is:

Chelsea had two of the best GKs in the PL. The other is De Gea.

Barca sign world class players (usually  ). Raiding the bins of the best team of Europe is not a bad policy at all.

2 Years ago we had a polish clown in goal, Arteta was one of our best players, people were saying we haven't seen the best of gervinho yet, and we were suffering from a trophy allergy. This is a step in the right direction, shame we had endure what we did to get to this point.

Let's hope we keep improving this squad.

No rush lads - has the medical reached his toenails yet ?

My 2 personal favourite medicals (yes I'm bored) would have to be 1. whoever the fuck at Barcelona gave the ok to sign Tomas Vermaelen and 2. Our very own Dr. Nick at Arsenal who failed to spot Kim Kallstrom's broken back.

I'll be back tomorrow with more hilarious medical stories to relieve the sheer fucking boredom of the transfer window. So long mudda fuckaaaaaaaaaaaas.
They pale into insignificance compared to Higuain's 3 month long medical where everything was done and dusted !

We've signed arguably the 4th best keeper in the PL - about "par" as some would say.

De Gea, Courtois and Lloris are all better than the latter day Cech. Begovic is arguably up there too. The bright spot is that it sticks one firmly on the nose of cocksure Chesney and his fuckwit Dad

Pleased with the signing of Cech, however i do wish he was a few years younger so we could get longer out of him :)

I think one advantage of having him is something a lot of people are missing or ignoring, that he is a very experienced winner and hopefully that will not only brush of on the squad but the coaching staff will use him with the younger players to help instil a winning mentality.

Overall a good start to the window, if a bit slow.

Watched a few vids of young Mr Dragomir and if he lives up to his potential he definitely could be one for the future and seeing as he's barely had a mention here i'd advise those who haven't to go look him up :D

De gea is leaving so Cech could be no1 keeper in the league. De Gea is the best keeper in the league, glad that utd cannot keep him.

I can't say Courtois is better now considering, Courtois still has the odd mistake in him, but he is very much nearly there and won two league titles in a row.

I rate Lloris highly but I wouldn't have him ahead of Cech. Begovic? he is not anywhere near Cech/De Gea/Courtois class.

Very happy that the clown will now stay on the bench. He is very lucky that he is still here.

I'm happy with Cech signing. But it doesn't mean that the poster who called him the Chelski reserve keeper is a "WUM" - because like it or not, that's exactly what Cech was. And as mentioned by another poster, Sanchez was unwanted at Barca as they upgraded with Suarez (winning the Treble in the process).
This doesn't mean both will not be quality players for Arsenal - but, what it does show, is how far behind in terms of technical quality Arsenal's group is. And the same goes for ManYoo and Liverpool. Sanchez would have strengthened all of them massively as would Cech. I only see one team that is good enough to potentially win the CL with its players and that is Chelski. And that's more to do with their manager than anything...

Cech is quality but anyone thinking he alone is going to be enough to turn Arsenal into challengers is having a laugh. Arsenal are still a top striker, top holding mid and top centre-back away from a title challenge (the same positions Henry and every pundit have said we need to address for the past 3 years. The CDM has been just the 10 years!!!)

Sorry pal but you're on drugs if you're telling me Cech is better than Courtois
I reckon Jose knows a thing or two, and having Courtois as number 1 won them the league! Cech isn't as good as him, it's obvious.
De Gea and Lloris as SteveO mentioned, are also superior keepers. Again, not something that needs much analysis, just sthg that's obvious to almost anyone. Behind these 3 keepers, you have Cech. He might only be the 4th bat but it's better than that Polski mug!!!

Why can't we all not just be happy we have signed a proven keeper.

Ramos wanting to go to Utd? I still don't believe it even if sky say so but he is a player I would live to see play for us

The more I watch of Vidal the less I would like to see him at Arsenal.

Great signing, very happy, some need to have a day off from moaning.

His age is not a problem because keepes can play on for longer than an outfield player and the only reason he's not played for Chelsea was because Courtois did so well at Madrid and they would have lost him if he didn't play and that makes no sense as he's their future.

One problem area finally solved, what's not to like.

No swap was needed and Mourhino must be fuming, win double really.

We obviously need a CDM, but I'd argue we need a striker even more.

If you remember, Jose as you call him, dropped Courtois for Cech when he started making errors around Christmas. Cech came in and was brilliant as usual. It's why Terry and 'Jose' said he was worth 12 points. Courtois will be a superb Goalkeeper, he is now but had he not had a year left on his contract before last summer, he wouldn't have been there No.1
e Gea and Lloris as SteveO mentioned, are also superior keepers.
De Gea a good shot stopper, Lloris a good Sweeper Keeper, but I would argue all round game Cech trumps them both.

So why did he drop cech again then ?? Courtois is clearly better than the modern day cech even if there is no guarantee that he will ever be as good as cech was in his peak.

It seems that fans are being pigeon holed into two groups here and if you voice any reservations you are being tagged as being unhappy with this signing any I dont think that is accurate - I have consistantly said that I believe cech is better than the other options in the club, but I also believe that we have overpaid on this deal. De Gea has another 12-14 years left in him but is being valued at around 20m, but yet cech has maybe 4 years left in him and is valued at 11m :? I also believe that many of those that are happy with this signing are fooling themselves into thinking that they are signing the cech of a few years ago but clearly that isnt the reality and is putting unrealistic expectations on the guy.

Can I finish up by mocking the notion that signing cech is a huge coup for the club - we signed a 33 year old keeper that was being allowed to leave his club but wanted to remain in london......we had a clear run at signing the guy as no other club was able to meet cech's requirements  A good positive signing for the club of course, but lets not fool ourselves into suggesting that we prised him away from the chavs against their will and that we beat off a host of top clubs for his signiture
