What's going on? I thought all the oil money clubs were screwing the market for everyone?
So I see ManYoo have now signed Schweinsteiger - but it's ok as he's "past it". But of course, Petr Cech (33, Chelski 2nd keeper) isn't!
They've signed the right back they needed, and are reported to have finally agreed a fee for Schneiderlin - another player we "don't need" as Coquelin is now better than everyone. Depay already signed.
It's the saaaame every bloody summer but as usual, "judge at the end of the window" "plenty of time left".
Yeah Chelski haven't really signed anyone - but last time I checked they were runaway champions

You can judge the transfer window now, but it lacks context as most deals haven't been done yet. I wouldn't like to declare United and Liverpool as the "winners" in the market yet as I expect Citeh, Arsenal and Chelsea to bring more players in before the end of the window.Ikechukwu1 wrote:What's going on? As fans, we have no control whatsoever about when we sign players and have very little idea as to who we're chasing, so what choice do we have other than wait until the end of the window?
What's the alternative?
By all means lose your shit on July 11th (as fans, I think it's understandable) but don't start having digs at those of us who say ""judge at the end of the window" as that's obviously the sensible thing to do.

Not having a dig. Just saying...Arsene Le Genius, wants to wait until his squad is "fully fit" before considering new additions. By the by, when was the last time Arsenal under him had a "fully fit" squad? And even if they were fully fit, what's the best they can achieve? By my reckoning there ain't been a Top 2 finish in a decade - let alone a title.g88ner wrote:You can judge the transfer window now, but it lacks context as most deals haven't been done yet. It's just another bullshit lack of ambition excuse to try and go on an ego trip and prove "I the great Arsene do not need to listen to the pundits"! Everyone has clearly stated what we need: that DCM and striker won't be coming, and you know it.

If we wait for a fully fit squad then we'll be waiting forever - that applies to any club, but especially ArsenalIkechukwu1 wrote: Not having a dig. I reckon he's only saying it so he can avoid talking about transfers. He's always preferred to talk about the players he already has, so nothings new there.
- it's believable that he wants to sell players first though as our squad is already bloated!
My guess is we'll sign a big name, £20-30m+ player before the end of the window. We're all guessing at this point so i could be totally wrong, but that's what I reckon will happen.
Defensive midfielder or striker... but not both. Arsene always leaves us exposed in key areas.

The big difference g88ner, is that citeeh and the chavs can afford to wait - when you have their unlimited transfer budgets, you can afford to play a waiting game safe in the knowledge that you have the wealth to join the bidding late and still get your man. We cant compete with that and need to identify and sign our targets early whilst the wealthier clubs are in snooze mode. At the moment these clubs have an abundance of top players as potential signings, but as time goes on that list will be getting thinner and thinner and they will then start looking at players on the second level which is where we operate so this can only complicate things for us

We're coming in to another pre season without key areas of weakness rectified and other areas top heavy and causing confusion as to who's first choice.g88ner wrote:

Again we go into a pre season tour where Wenger is looking to show us all that the answers are under our noses all the time.

Signing players early is great and we do seems very bad at it!augie wrote: The big difference g88ner, is that citeeh and the chavs can afford to wait - when you have their unlimited transfer budgets, you can afford to play a waiting game safe in the knowledge that you have the wealth to join the bidding late and still get your man. Obviously if your targets are available in June/July like Schneiderlin and Jackson Martinez appear to be then get it done! - but if your targets are at reluctant sellers or clubs who are waiting to recruit first then you may have little choice but to wait.
It's not an exact science and there must be a good reason other than Arsenal/Wenger related to explain the increased transfer activity in August, so I'm not sure we're exclusively to blame here.
I know I'm repeating myself, but the problem with over analysing the transfer window when most deals are yet to happen is that you don't have the full picture and we'll only know if not signing Martinez, Schneiderlin, etc was the right move when we see who we DO sign when the window shuts.
Re: The 2015 Transfer Rumours Thread
Depressing as it is, until Wenger leaves, the top drawer players will be purchased only when they become available. It seems like that has been the way of Wenger and I would be willing to bet that he is looking to take whatever Madrid or Barcelona are willing to let go (and Chelsea now too).
Re: The 2015 Transfer Rumours Thread
Yeah must be so many fans out there daily checking and hoping we will sign the players we need to really challenge
The truth as i see it is that Mr Wenger will bring about his own downfall by his petty penny pinching in the market.....apparently saying Schneiderlein is too expensive.....quibling over a few million on all potential targets
This sheer bloody mindless behaviour and reluctance to purchase will cost him his job

I don't think it will because he could pull his trousers down and take a dump in the middle of the pitch on a match day, and those twats still wouldn't sack him.Redarmy wrote: This sheer bloody mindless behaviour and reluctance to purchase will cost him his job
Re: The 2015 Transfer Rumours Thread
Agreed, that guy isn't even close to being sacked and never will be. He will run this club on his terms and leave when he wants. That's the sad truth.Midz wrote:I don't think it will because he could pull his trousers down and take a dump in the middle of the pitch on a match day, and those twats still wouldn't sack him.Redarmy wrote: This sheer bloody mindless behaviour and reluctance to purchase will cost him his job

Re: The 2015 Transfer Rumours Thread
The thing I dont understand is every year the qualifying for the Champs league is used as an excuse for not buying until late. This year every body including a fair few on here were saying he would get business done early when we finished third and yet again people are here putting up any excuse for our lack of activity.
This transfer window is the same as every other. Only this time he hasnt got the CL qualifier to hide behind but still nothing is asked or said.
