I can't believe a manager like Wenger would drop the idea of getting a good strong DM to replace Veiria and turned to playing dross like Song and worse Denilson. It's totally unacceptable. Who knows what would happen if we have a good strong physical DM for the past 10 yrs.augie wrote:defleppardisking wrote:10 yrs of no Vieira replacement

18 yrs of fucking around in the CL
No wonder they said Arsene knows.
It is the single issue that upsets me most over the past decade - Bergkamp is the best player to ever play for the club imo and is missed greatly but at least we bought arshavin to replace him (even if he wasn't utilised properly). We have NEVER replaced PV4 and I would argue that we have never even tried - people will point to gilberto but he wasn't the strong physical DM that PV4 was, and he was never gonna be the guy who protected our smaller ball playing midfielders
I am so desperate for us to sign a big physically dominating DM that I would nearly ask PV4 to come back and fill the role now

if we sell Ozil then the club becomes a laughing stock.
On the face of it maybe, but I wonder if it might be a bigger picture move - I am a big ozil fan and would def class him as world class, but at the same time I don't ever see us getting the best out of him in this system and wonder if it would make more sense to sell him and buy a player more suited to wenker's tactical shambles

Re: The 2015 Transfer Rumours Thread
Can understand the logic in that statement, Ozil is not being allowed to truly show his range of passing and vision in this set upaugie wrote:Gunner Rob wrote:if we dont buy anyone else will even the most blinkered AKB finally accept that Wenger has no ambition beyond getting into the top 4?

But then again how many players have been bought and played out of position until their confidence is drained, Chambers suffered last year brought in at centre back, not saying he won't eventually make it in that position though

Doing the bare minimum, right?
You all know the old coot won’t move until 31/8 though.
what I find most alarming about this summer though is that there appears to be a real acceptance amongst Arsenal supporters that the club just aims for 4th place. There is no real desire for us to go for broke and try and challenge for the league by the board, the manager or the supporters.
this season is going to be oh so predictable.....zzzzzzzz

I hope the Sanogo to Ajax thing happens.
A year working with Bergkamp can only do him good. If he returns as shit as ever we'll know he'll never make it.

Because now that the club is winning fa cups again, many supporters are satisfied with that

Let's be honest, we can speculate and bemoan all we want but none of us really have a clue what he's going to do in the transfer market, mind you i don't think he does either....
Ivan: 'Transfer market opens soon Arsene, how you going to save money this year?'
AW: 'What's the transfer market Ivan?'
Ivan: 'C'mon Arsene we go over this every year, it's where you sell some of our players to save us money and on occasion you spend a bit to keep the whinging plebs happy if Stan is feeling generous!'
AW: 'Um... not sure what you're talking about Ivan, guess i'll wing it as usual!!'

From the Sun:
"Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, 26, fears being played out of position this season and is seeking talks with manager Arsene Wenger. (The Sun)
Hilarious. Guy has barely been there and already the rumours of a rift are majorly surfacing. If this is legit, Ozil would have a big point too. It's just yet another example of it having nothing to do with money and everything to do with Wenker's incompetence as a manager. Signs a £42m player and has absolutely no idea how to use him, doesn't surround him with the requisite quality, and alienates him. Happened with Arshavin, Podolski I don't at all rate but happened with him too, and now shot rumours with Ozil.
Bloke is a joke manager and unfit to manage any elite club. Total dinosaur. The FA Cup? Yeah I'm sure Neymar and Aguero will be banging down our doors to join us after the cup wins

On the other hand, the Mirror and Mail recently reported that Ozil was being given the number 10 role...Ikechukwu1 wrote:From the Sun:

Is The Sun more reliable?

News today, but thankfully they're tomorrow's fish and chip paper.

Could be true, could be bollocks... but either way, I reckon those journalists haven't the foggiest.
