The 2015 Transfer Rumours Thread
Re: The 2015 Transfer Rumours Thread
I'm honestly not worried about us 'missing out' on any of the supposed big players that have moved so far. I would have been mortified if we'd spunked £49m on Sterling, and £32.5m for the new Greedybarndoor in the form of that useless streak of piss Benteke....words fail me as to how much money the Mickeys spurn on overrated shite.
Schneiderlin for £25m? Possibly but wouldn't lose sleep over it
There are better options than all of that lot

I don't buy the attention seeking, uninformed, moron statements like "Giroud is shit". But I also don't believe for one second that we can win the PL with him as our first choice main striker. Not in a million years. He's PL standard average to good with moments of brilliance (just like Heskey and Wiltord and numerous other strikers wre) but he is not a top striker that will get you 20+ PL goals every season.
Sanchez was brilliant for us last season but he may suffer second seasonitis or even be burnt out from his efforts with Arsenal and Chile. Sure, Walcott has his moments as does Giroud, but Nos89, if you are saying 60 PL goals then I have to say that I honestly cannot see Sanchez, Walcott and Giroud hitting 40 PL goals between them, never mind 60. Two don't have the consistency (Wally and Giroud) and Sanchez may as I say not deliver near the level of his first season.

I know you've mentioned Wanyama SteveO (good shout) but who else do you reckon can come in and be a quality signing?SteveO 35 wrote:I'm honestly not worried about us 'missing out' on any of the supposed big players that have moved so far. I do agree with you on much of the examples you have listed above, but I do wonder if vidal joins Bayern (as is looking increasingly likely) whether that will be a chance missed. Similar to schneiderlin, vidal wouldn't be my first choice but I do think that between him and coquelin they could fill our defensive needs in midfield, and one of our many attacking midfielders alongside them would give us the balance we need. Maybe my feelings are slightly skewed on this such is my desperation to sign a physically dominant DM, but with the number of choices looking smaller by the day, it is looking increasingly unlikely that we will buy a quality DM and imo vidal would have made us a better team

I'm not a massive student of European football, so in terms of the CDM role was very much thinking about Wanyama, but also though the guy from Monaco (Kondogbia?) did an outstanding job against us in that role. Players such as them would be my preference - genuine powerhouses that can break up the play and get tough, but are not just kicking machines like a Clattermole or donkey Tiote. I don't really see a Schneiderlin or Khedira type of cultured midfielder sitting deep as the most urgent need - we have the likes of Santi, Jack etc who have already had to adapt to that role so adding another one like that seems pointless to me.Ikechukwu1 wrote:I know you've mentioned Wanyama SteveO (good shout) but who else do you reckon can come in and be a quality signing?SteveO 35 wrote:I'm honestly not worried about us 'missing out' on any of the supposed big players that have moved so far. As for strikers, I think I'd be with you on the Levandowski shout. We don't want another Giroud type (which for me Mandzukic absolutely is), nor do we want a Theo type converted to a central striker. I still think Dzeko is a massively underrated player who has done it on these shores too.

You know there are football websites where they have comments sections beneath the articles and you can gather numerous FACTS from them? You know about that, right?SteveO 35 wrote:I'm not a massive student of European football...Ikechukwu1 wrote:I know you've mentioned Wanyama SteveO (good shout) but who else do you reckon can come in and be a quality signing?SteveO 35 wrote:I'm honestly not worried about us 'missing out' on any of the supposed big players that have moved so far.
