we're going in for lacazette and benzema are we? shit clickbait, even macdowell doesn't repost that shite

Moutinho, along with his portugese team-mate veloso, was one of the most coveted centre midfielders in Europe 2 or 3 seasons ago - in my opinion both chose to move for the big bucks and as a result have spent the last couple of seasons playing in less high profile leagues and this has taken both out of the spotlight. To my (albeit limited) knowledge, moutinho is an all round midfielder instead of the big physically dominant DM that we both believe we need, but by all accounts is still a very, very good player![]()
Under any other manager we would totally dismiss this rumour because we already have many similar players, but under this clown.......he is probably having a medical as we speak

Wenger's had a decent history of strikers to be fair.Ikechukwu1 wrote:I still find it unbelievable, and ridiculous in equal measure, that Arsenal's record striker signing cost £12.5m.
If you think about it, it's the most important single position in outfield play, and yet Aston Villa, Liverpool and Everton have all spent far bigger money on a striker than we ever have!
Obv we lucked out with RVP and Henry but, RVP aside, since Henry left none of them have convinced. And RVP was sold to help United win a PL title
The £32.5m on Benteke is a silly fee (though he could be very good).
Lewandowski's agent was in the press saying his release would cost £35m. Much sooner pay the money for him, a top class number 9 that is 10 times the striker Giroud is.
Flamini leaving is good news. Not only is it good to get a waste of space off our books, but it also means we're a man short in midfield which increases the likelihood of signing a player in this position... or promote BeilikIkechukwu1 wrote:It looks like Flamini (lol) has finally left. Great. The fee is being reported as €4m.
So far then, Galatasaray have spent €8m on two Arsenal outcasts then!
If Joel Campbell's €8m goes through, then Le Tool would have made a profit in the market so far![]()
Sound familiar?
Sorry but your explanation won't cutting it for me.g88ner wrote:Wenger's had a decent history of strikers to be fair.Ikechukwu1 wrote:I still find it unbelievable, and ridiculous in equal measure, that Arsenal's record striker signing cost £12.5m.

Anelka, Henry and RVP took us through the first 15 years of Wenger's reign, and it's only the last 3 years that we've struggled in that area.
And in those 3 years we've signed 2 attacking midfielders for £42m and £35m and put in a £40,000,001bid for Suarez so I don't think there's a special desire not to sign a striker; it's more that the right one hasn't become available?
And in the absence of the availability of a world class striker, we've thrown £40m at 3 strikers who haven't made the grade.
I think we'll come across a top striker soon enough as it's obvious there's a desire to find the right one. And for the record, I'm not convinced Jackson Martinez was the answer.
I do worry we'll have to slum it with Giroud for another year thoughbut the money is there and I do get the feeling we're waiting for that big signing before the window shuts.
That's fair. I must admit I'm hoping we'll bring in Benzema or that French chap but we'll see. The money is there and the fact we've spent big in the last 2 summers gives me some hope to cling to (just).Ikechukwu1 wrote:

Henry we all know about, but since him he has done RVP and nothing else. We've not even developed a single striker from the academy in his eternal time there (which is slightly ridiculous). And the main point I think, since he stopped the privilege of recruiting France's best, there's only been RVP. I'm not talking about spending on attacking mids, I'm talking about out and out strikers. In the 8 years since Henry left he's not spent big on a striker which is a bit of a joke. Especially when you see that Newcastle (Shearer), Villa (Bent), Spuds (Soldado lol), Everton (Lukaku), Sunderland (Bent), Swansea (Bony) and Liverpool have all spent more on strikers. Unacceptable. It's like he's living in the 1990s and he thinks you can but Van Basten for £15m!
Either that or he reckons he's gonna find another RVP for £2m

As for your comment about developing strikers.... you're right; our record is dreadful but Wenger's not alone in that. Which strikers did Fergie develop at United in his 25 years?I can't think of anyone and United were famous for their youth system. I'm probably forgetting a real gem, but I can't think of anyone?
