Not showing up

Post by dano »

reading Cech's comments about the great spirit in the locker room, made me wonder why there seems to be a handful of matches each year that the team just does not show up. For every Man City, Cup final, there are times where they wander around, aimless, no energy, and can't be arsed. Could be many reasons, think the main one is the manager, no game plan, no substituting a lazy player at 20 minutes rather than 70, no hair dryer when needed. Any other reasons for the occasional no-show

Every team has those games. But we do seem to have a greater number of them. I blame Arsene for it. He has molly coddled so many of these players that they often struggle to find the killer instinct in themselves. There is a culture of acceptability at our club that needs to be weeded out.

You repeatedly let in stupid goals because you are a cocky twat? Fuck off.

You demand a pay rise after winning nothing? Fuck off.

You are injured for 10 years? Fuck off. In fact fuck off after 2 years.

Agree seems that the killer instinct has deserted Wenger- someone the other day astutely posted that Wenger has become a father figure- when he was younger that wasnt the case, he was more like an older brother inspiring the players.

Massive shame that no one at the club seems to be bothered about the change in mentality for now 9 or 10 seasons

Fair to say we had a few of these games this year. Sunderland and Swansea at home towards back end of the season perfect examples, just games were we never got going, and especially against Swansea got what we deserved.

I think coupled with the lack of tactics, their instruction to " just go out and play" and the lack of substitutions regardless of the way the game is going or the score till 70 mins is a big cause of this. (Apathy that they will not get the hook)

I would also put money on the "be patient, the chances will come" approach being reeled out every game, hence the tip tap for 80 mins v a packed defence, the overplaying around the opponents box, followed by a 10 min bombardment when we throw caution to the wind, put bodies in the box and surprise, surprise we create chances and invariably score.

Welcome to the forum btw :barscarf:

Wenker has never been your traditional leader of men type - the team he inherited was overflowing with leaders like TA6 etc so he didnt have to do the old warrier type role, and when they left PV4 took on the responsibility and was the driving force on the pitch. In recent years le cock has gone towards the smaller technical players and the team has been without a player that can fill that leadership role and it is very clear that he is absolutely and totally unable to motivate his team for ANY game -yes the players do rise their game sometimes, but that is down to them entirely and they just aint arsed enough to do it more often  It is that, rather than any tactical or substitution choices that le cock makes, that is the root cause of the problems you talk about

I don't think it is always down to the players entirely. I think they're a big part of it (and they should be) but some of it has to be coming from the backroom staff and manager.
We need a strong captain on the pitch, ala PV4 TA6 or dare I say it Roy Keane!
I also think that any player signing for any club should have an induction process whereby they are taught the traditions and rivalries of the club, the fans views and feelings and a guide to what expectations there are to be a player for that club.

there might be some passion in there then.
