Armchair Fan everybody. Get the fuck out, this debate is for real fans, not you couch potatoes who's idea of a matchday experience is a bag of doritos and sky sports 1 (in that order)And yes, I'm happy with the amount we pay. It's not my money.

Thanks for this piece, mate. Let me add that despite Birmingham's win, it's still fucking painful to recall King Law's goal... his face said it all, really...krom85 wrote:Right then you stupid *word censored*, are you ready to be educated?
The author of said piece claiming United have always been big money spenders is utter bollocks. Edwards was notoriously tight with the purse strings up until the end of the 1997-98 season when we bought Stam, Yorke and Blomquist. One of the main factors in Cantona's decision to retire and leave United was the fact that the board were not being ambitious enough in their pursuit of the world's top players.
The author also claims that Ferige "inherited" many of the players from the 1994 side from the youth team. For his information Fergie became manager at United in 1986, which was roughly seven to eight years before the team was finally created with Eric the final piece in the jigsaw. Only Robson remained who could be considered "first eleven" at that time, and Sharpe and Giggs were the only youth team players in that side. This leads me to conclude that the author is a know nothing fuckwit who must have started supporting Arsenal after you won the double in 1998.
One of the reasons Edwards eventually loosened the purse strings was because of the young British talent from our youth team i.e. Beckham, Giggs, Scholes, Butt, the Nevilles etc. that cost us nothing. Something your manager may well want to take note of. Therefore to accuse us of being big spenders is a bit rich!!
Then there is the "myth" that City relegated us in 1974. This was not the case. We had to win, and Birmingham had to lose. Birmingham won, and so whatever happened that day we were relegated all the same.
I can't be arsed debating whether we've been lucky/rubbish purchases etc. because frankly we are a bigger, more successful club than you, and would rather win the league at Anfield, or the Boo Camp than at your dump. You register well below Liverpool, City and Leeds on our radar.
That piece by the author actually made me smile and realise how lucky I am to support a club steeped in genuine history, tradition and heritage, and not one whose tradition was boring defending and utilising the back pass rule until Wenger came along.
I hope you have been educated.
Toodle Pip!
Tony Tony Tony!
You seem to have a problem understanding this so I will break it down to you.
One of your own posted a wait for it... "Open letter" to United fans.
That includes me!
The letter resides on this forum.
Therefore I responded to said "open letter" on this forum.
So kindly fuck off sunshine. I will post where I want, when I want.
I and many other United lads are well aware of the ranks of mongs within our support. I don't need you or any other to tell me that. However the difference between us is that we can recognise the muppets within our support, you seem to be incapable of recognising the ones in yours. Don't start being all "high and mighty" about how great Arsenal's support is, as they have more tarquin types than most. The fact is that every top flightclub has these now with the "Skysation" of football. So do me a favour and leave the crap out, and sensibly answer some of the points that have been made by United in this thread.

OK, I forgot you are an Arsenal fan so I must be patient and must explain myself, otherwise you won't understand.U.F.G Anfield '89 wrote:Armchair Fan everybody. It makes no difference for me if we pay 20 million or 30 million for Rio Ferdinand. The debts of the club mean that ticket prices will increase, regardless of our purchases. So far, only the price of the executive boxes have increased outrageously in the Glazer era but we must get used to the fact that the ordinary seats' price will increase in an almost unacceptable way.
At least, however, we make ambitious signings which might make it worthwhile to pay these amounts for tickets. Anyway, as you might know, the biggest part of United's turnover comes from merchandising but I'm not a big spender on that front - in fact, I have two shirts and that's all, I need the money for tickets as unfortunately I'm hardly a rich man. (though this summers' little European tour is most welcome but that doesn't matter now)
So, virtually, only a very little of my money is in the signings of Rio and Anderson and Hargreaves but I'm happy with them so I have no problems with it.

No worries pal. It's a bit like banging your head on a brick wall round here isn't it. Most of them just don't seem to get it do they? You off Red Issue then? Are you going to Peterbrough/Donny away?midlothian1999 wrote:Thanks for this piece, mate. Yes, well, Henry left you what? A week ago? We've been putting up with your hilarious "man utd fans from Hong Kong" jokes for about 13 years. So if I'm still going on about Henry leaving in 2030, then you've got a point - but for now, wind your neck in Tarquin.tonysaunders wrote:Bravo to you, my friend. ...And finally, I suppose it's going to be a sad season next year not having that posing, pouting tosser playing for you up front. "Eh, Bobby, what's the french for get me the fuck out of here?"
Hadn't heard the "nurrr nurrr, Henry left you, Henry left yooooooooou" one in about five whole minutes. Real original.

midlothian1999. I've been to school thick shit, i actually am getting an education unlike you tossers who every three words is a swear word.
And anyway midlothian1999 according to one of your first posts beating Arsenal at home was one of the victories that led to you winning the title, it might help if you did beat us. Have you been reading the Sun again.

I never said that, please, bring up some evidence. I know exactly well that you beat us on September 17 and January 22 but now it matters to me as much as it matters losing twice to West Ham. Two years ago it was a great rivalry but now you are too far behind.Ben-gooner14 wrote:midlothian1999. And to a previous poster: yes, I'd swap our two Carling Cups for that 4-2 win at Highbury. That was a tremendous football game with two teams who love to hate each other and my beloved team won. It's worth more than two Carling Cups. Call me a glory hunter now

you've been? don't you mean you're currently attending? unless that's not the case anymore. Why were you kicked out? sniffing knickers in the changing rooms most likely, something you learnt off Sol in his autobiography no doubtBen-gooner14 wrote:midlothian1999.
