Carlos Cuellar anyone?

Carlos Cuellar anyone?

Post by Cornie »

Rangers centre half, 26 years old and 6 foot 3". Had very impressive season with Rangers. Looked very confident and impressive in UEFA cup run. Newcastle apparently interested in him but I would not mind seeing him in an Arsenal shirt at all. Would be a quality addition to the squad and provide competition for CB places.

Anyone else see Cuellar play? What do you think?

From what I've seen, a good confident header of the ball so that's one box ticked 8)

Saw him play in Old Firm game the other week (when he got sent off). Looked good in the air - but it's difficult to judge a defender in the Scottish league. I haven't seen any of their UEFA Cup games so have to reserve judgement.

We dont need good back up we need someone to come in and replace Gallas or Toure. We have all said for the last two seasons that both of them dont work as a pair

Spot-on. We need someone to come in and be a defender. United have Vidic (defender) and Ferdinand (footballer), Chelsea have Terry (defender) and Carvallho (footballer). We have 2 footballers, hence our problems against the aerial threat, particularly from wide areas.

I agree 8) Anyone remember when Rangers signed Boumsong for free and he was so "great", that Newcastle decided to pay 8 million for him, despite him being a free agent 6 months before. He turned out great, eh?  Bramble and Boumsong.... Great memories  :P

YEAH BUT TOM WATT ALSO RATES EBOUE AND THINKS GILBERTO IS STILL A GREAT PLAYER, SO THAT'S NOT SAYING MUCH!!  ALTHOUGH I LIKE HIM, TOM WATT IS ONE OF THE ROSE-TINTED GLASSES BRIGADE - NOT SO MUCH GLASS HALF-FULL, AS ONE BRIMMING OVER - AS WITNESSED BY HIS PERFORMANCES ON ARSENAL TV. HE DOES FIND IT HARD TO SAY ANYTHING CRITICAL ABOUT ANY ARSENAL PLAYER. :(
