Rotation though isnt a good idea with CBs, you need a steady partnership. Gabriel and Kos should be better than BFG I agree.

Agreed rotation isn't good. But there will be injuries, especially with our medical staff. But Kos and Gabriel should be first choice in Premier and Champions League. With BFG and Chambers in the Cups and cover. However, as per my previous post. hopeful, that we can get another CB in, since Kos will break down at some point and I'm not convinced that Wenker is convinced in Gabriel, hence, my concern is that he will rely on BFG.

well I have to admit I didnt think we had it in us to beat that lot so well done to the team and the manager

still 1 remaining barrier though before I will consider us to be title contenders - beat them in a competitive match 8)

thought the atmos was great yesterday- well, for a community shield match

decent amount of noise, most people stood around me (apart from a weird moment in the second half when everyone decided to sit for 10 mins) obviously most of the crowd only knew 3 songs so it was pretty limited. but much better than the chavs who didn't seem up for it at all, most actually expecting them to be at least as half as noisy as us

Just out of curiosity what are people judging on when they claim that Gabriel should be first choice alongside kos at the back ? He has hardly played since he joined the club so how can people be sure that he is good enough ? :? I know many of you don't rate BFG but you cant declare someone else as first choice before you see if they are good enough - chambers is more entitled to be first choice alongside kos imo

Good question, we've not seen enough to judge. The first game he played for us (Everton?) he let the ball bounce over him like a pub team defender then later made a last ditch tackle that rivalled Bobby Moore's on Pele. He looks the part (even uglier than Keown) but needs a run in the team before we can have an informed opinion about him.

He played 6 games. He looked the part IMHO, and I dont think that he deserved to loose his place to BFG, IIFC the change back took place at the semi final or round that time.

BFG had a pretty horrid season last year and admitted he wasnt motivated. Some terrible ducking and ball avoidance. Agree Gabriel needs time to prove himself, but part of that problem is with Arteta as "Captain" . BFG cant be readily dropped as he is vice captain  If you are saying BFG is better than Gabriel I would disagree, he is so slow now.

Chambers would have been better off going on loan this season. He needs more time, having been skinned on a few occasions last season, even in the Charity shield.

Chuck a top striker into the squad and we would definitely be good enough to win the title.

I don't think we would because we are still tactically not versatile enough and frankly we're too naive imo.

But whilst we need improvements in certain areas (and have done for a while), it's a bit of a myth that title winning squads have to have 2 quality players in every position. Look at United's side which cantered to the title in 2013, look at the Liverpool side which should have won the title in 2014. Huge huge deficiencies in both sides, papered over by form, momentum and tremendous goalscoring ability.

I thought they did well, defended well and kept a clean sheet, to hear Mourinho bitch about the team defending and not attacking was lovely to hear.

Not read through the thread but there can't be anyone moaning about it surely?

I actually think I'd like to see Debuchy be given a run at CB with Kos

For all the love in on here for Moron-hio (mostly from ItchyBaba-Spacker it has to be said  ) it has to be said not only did Arsene finally beat the cúnt after 300 attempts (  ) it also really really got to the mouthy jumped up little arsehole. For a prick that has spent a couple of seasons parking the bus to whine about someone doing just that to him is hilarious and fucking embarrassing.

The whole waiting to shake our players hands bit? Classless, cringe-inducing, childish cunting of the lowest order. If anyone on here thinks for one second that was Moron-hio "showing a bit of class" then can I have your ATM card and your PIN to mind - I promise I'm not going to empty your account.  Showing a bit of class is what Rednose did when we won the PL in Old Toilet in 2002; he went into our dressing room with his captain and shook every player's hand - away from the media and the cameras.

Mourinho who once eye gouged Tito Vilanova when his Real Madrid team lost to them, has accused Wenger of 'not behaving properly' on Sunday.
