A song for Danny Welbeck/A song for Alexis

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

We used dire straits walk of life for welbeck. From 11 seconds in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9_VOy7VipQ
"When he gets it, Danny Welbeck he nets it,
When he gets it, Danny Welbeck he nets it, nananananana,
When he gets it, Danny Welbeck he nets it,
When he gets it, Danny Welbeck he nets it,
[at this point start jumping around like twats flinging beer all over the concourse]
Rararararara rarararararara, rararara, rarararararara, rarararararara"
Back to the start and repeat.
We stopped it cos it was shit like but it was as near as we got to a welbz original

Yesterday at Brighton there was a lot of (to the tune of 'Don't you want me baby'):

Al-exis Sanchez baby
Al-exis Sanchez wooooah

repeat.

As 'friend of the forum' Tim Stillman said on twitter last night - this is his song, so people need to get over the fact that it is not to the tune of 'Sloop John B' or 'Volare', and just get involved.

Pretty sure it was written by Phil Oakey. :?

Yup, the negativity back to his tweet really odd. It's a decent enough, simple song so let's go with it.

Fixed that for ya, Cooky! :D

"His" song? :rubchin:

Can I just say I was actually the first Gooner to write Freddie's song to the tune of "Can't take my
eyes off of you
".

Made it up just after I wrote "Good Old Arsenal". 8)

True story. :D

Apologies for the ambiguity, but by 'his song' I meant Alexis Sanchez's, not Tim Stillman. I don't think any fan has actually claimed a player chant as their own. Stillman might be a bit of a knobhead, but ..........

Ah yeah, I know, mate. Just taking the piss.

But tbh I've often wondered who exactly were the individuals that first sang some of our more famous songs/chants etc. When and how they came up with them? At some point some individual put the words etc together and sang it.

Who are our Patient Zeros?!! :D

I think we'll be singing "He'll never play here again" to Welbeck shortly. Is he the next "two, maybe three weeks away" Vermaelen / Rosicky ?

First time I'd heard it and thought it was a bit bland and uninspiring, I can't see the hordes booming it out away from home.

I still like the '500 miles' effort suggested a few pages back, I'd imagine it would generate a bit more participation.

That said it's brought back some old memories of Pepsi and Shirley which is never a bad thing.

Hopefully that Petr Cech chant doesn't catch on. Embarrassing enough the chant, to add that it's the same one they sing.

Creativity 0

Thought it was awful when they nicked the sol chant for the racist...
