Tbh g88ner, I'm not even demanding world class signings - what I am demanding is signings that are better than what we already have and I believe that there is def much room for improvement.

For me coquelin is a good back up to have in the DM position but isn't good enough to be first choice at a club as big as ours and I believe that le cock had several options open to him to upgrade that position so refusing to do so is dereliction of duty imo.

The strikers situation is slightly different imo - upgrading on 130k per week giroud and 140k per week wally isn't hard in the context of having much room to improve, but maybe there are not as many options out there to buy. Maybe because of the lack of options we should be more aggressive and try and force the issue instead of waiting for other striker needy teams (manure, citeeh and maybe the chavs) to hoover up our viable targets ?

Maybe I am splitting hairs slightly, but I feel that world class is a level up on top quality - for example I would feel that javi Martinez is top quality but not (yet) world class. This is the quality level that is within our reach and personally I would rather buy two players at that level NOW, than to wait in the hope of signing two world class players in a fortnights time

i don't for one minute believe we, the Arsenal, should be hanging onto the coat tails of spurs after some French understudy. I think this story is false anyway.

However, we should be targeting the very best the world of football has to offer, regardless of cost!!! Every player has his price.

If we had a manager with ambition, guile and balls we would craft a team capable of winning the biggest honours in the game :banghead: , sadly we have Arsewipe Wenger.

Spurs announced this morning that they had completed their swoop for the Cameroon forward, who has signed a five-year contract at White Hart Lane.

Before the north London club had completed the £12 million signing however, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas claimed that the move may be hijacked by a Premier League rival. ‘Clinton Njie’s departure is not complete. We have received an offer from another big English club which is complicating things,’ he told French media earlier this week.

Now, L'Equipe have claimed that the club in question was indeed Arsenal. The French newspaper say that the Gunners made contact with Lyon on Friday to sound them out about Njie's availability, just as Tottenham were looking to put him through a medical.

They add that Arsenal didn't make a formal offer but toyed with the idea of challenging Spurs for his signature before ultimately deciding against.

From the same page:

"Arsenal have been given the opportunity to sign PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to French outlet Foot365.

The 20-year-old has represented France at U21 level, and has 53 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG to his name.

Arsene Wenger is no stranger to signing young French players, and could be interested in a swoop for Rabiot."

No shit sherlock !

Spot on.

As limited as Giroud is, there are few obvious upgrades. Personally I'd go for Lewandowski, but would settle for Benzema.

However, the Coq is another matter entirely. He came into the team last year, was better than what we had, and he made us a better team. But he is a long way from what we need, or could have. Martinez would be my choice, but Kondogbia, Illarramendi, Bender (x2), Inler, etc are all significant upgrades.
Anyone who has watched our first two matches, in which Coq has lost possession when he's the deepest midfielder, passed poorly, given away needless fouls and lost position must know that we shouldn't be relying on him for a whole season.

Even with Giroud we can score against most teams, but at the moment we're also likely to concede to most teams.

I think it might happen

It's like the Ozil signing. Spend all summer wanting a striker then sign a creative player on deadline day

Not what we need but who would turn him down???

That would allow Wenger to convert Petr Cech from the keeper we did not need into the new Henry :barscarf:
