One of the few things I will defend There's Only One on is that he doesn't often blow fat wads of cash on whoever the latest English one season wonder is (I know Wally's detractors will point out otherwise but I wouldn't agree with that)

Glen Johnson, Henderson, Downing, Carroll, Sterling, Fatty Shaw, Lallana, Lambert and now the likes of Austin and Stones (nice Bambi on Ice display yesterday)......I'd have been fucking mortified if he'd spent heavily on any of those clowns.

We're more likely to get the new Gervinho than we are Charlie Austin. Take a look at the Grade B French clubs and pick a bloke who scores between 10 and 15 per season and that's your man. After the first round of games in Ligue 1 the leading scorers are Alassane Plea (Nice), Romain Hamouma (St Etienne) and Floyd Ayite (Bastia). I haven't fucking heard of any of them so I'm sure at least one of them will be coming

Played cricket on saturday and an opposition player (Oirish lad) I was speaking to turns out to be a gooner (in fact I found out after he asked about manure score at drinks, I said they lost 2-0 thinking he was a manure fan but when he reacted happily to this news I asked him who he supported, anyhow I digress  ).

He was adamant that benzema was having a medical today and was actually excited by it  You fekin Oirish can keep your inside information to yourselves

SSN, West Brom reject transfer request from berahino, there will come a day when players will just be hired on short term contracts or even month by month because none of them respect their clubs or contracts anymore.

Never thought Benzema was happening. Hopefully this will be a lesson learned to all fans who take the word(s) of random people on Twitter.

Perhaps a little naive of me, but I find it astonishing that we really aren't going to sign anyone. Yeah, we got Cech (I'm not jumping on the "Cech is shit" bandwagon), but that was a position we were already okay in.

This means that Wenger is going to do absolutely nothing to improve the squad from last year.

So this is what it feels like to compete with Europe's elite, eh? :rubchin:

Exactly - but note how the excuses have now changed. Where as previously the financial dopers like Chavski and Citeh were the focus of his angst and he clung to the feeble and non-enforceable FFP rules like shit to a blanket......he now has to change tactics given that his boss has publically stated the benefit of the new commercial deals we have plus Sky/BT.....remember we can buy anyone apart from a small handful of players in world football. We have the resources we've been told. So after years of being the poor little 'have nots' we now have to listen to the fact that apparently there is a shortage of world class talent and that demand outstrips supply. Strange that the shortage coincides with football never having been such a global game with levels of investment previously unparalleled.......supposedly in amongst that, and an age where scouting is global, there is nobody available.

What an absolute load of balls - the guy is bonused on financial results and it shows

Genuinely not surprised at any of this. I said it would be Cech and that's our lot while hoping to fuck I would be wrong.

This myopic fraudulent c*nt has this club by the balls with no end in sight. I fully expect him to extend in 2 years. Gazidis has given him a job for life.

I'm seriously worried at the moment.

It would clearly be insane not to use some of our vast wealth to improve this squad and I've been confident all summer that we would buy at least 1 big player (not including Cech), even if I'm not surprised we've left it late again.

I'm an optimised so even now, in the last week, I can't accept that we won't sign anyone because that would be a clear indication that the club have little interest in making strides forward to compete for the CL and are instead banking on doing the bare minimum to achieve top 4 again (yes, I know that's the way we've operating for some time now, but you always have to hope for change)

But, that's a conversation for September; the summer of 2013 and 2011 give me hope as they show we have history of a last minute trolly dash, so maybe 2015 will be another one :? - bloody hope so!

The problem is that it would take perhaps 3 signings of the sufficient character, spirit and mental strength (bingo :barscarf: ) to win the league on their own regardless of what Mr. Knows is up to. Otherwise,we are going to be shown up again as has happened time and time again. Groundhog, mate 8) :(

That's one of the reasons I'm concerned; the longer this goes on, the chances of signing more than 1 (or zero :( ) decreases.

I can understand the struggle in bringing in a top class striker, but it's not like the rest of our team can't be improved, so whatever way you spin it, you have to upgrade where you can even if it's not in areas you'd targeted as a main priority.

And lets be honest; we're filthy rich at the moment and if you're not going to spend it, reduce the fucking ticket prices.

Groundhog FC :barscarf:

(I've not lost all hope of a signing(s) yet though   )
