Today wasn't a get out of jail card.

All games have moments when the oppo do something half decent and if you consider all those moments as potential goals (even though Cech never really looked like conceding) then you can sum most games up as "lucky" couldn't you?

It would have been more valid to say it against Palace as they missed a sitter at 1-1 and the game really could have gone either way, but today? there will rarely be a more one sided game.

And lets be honest, rather than focussing everything on Wenger and simply taking the game for what is was, I'd say we'd have been ridiculously unlucky to have dropped points as Stoke didn't create a single chance that I can remember and we created dozens of highly presentable chances.

I can understand criticism of the wasteful finishing (especially from Theo) but today was not "lucky Arsenal". Far from it. It was a very one sided contest so credit where it's due.

g88ner, you know quite rightly what was intended by OBG's post about today being a "get out of jail" card for Wenger. Mabe not worded to the best effect though.
But the fact remains that when probing questions are being asked by supporters, pundits and some media about Wengers failure yet again to adequately strengthen (especially in the striker department) and we have a massive "war chest" begging to be used, Wenger somehow gets a vindication by Theo and Giroud scoring today.
You know exactly the tone of OBG's post and it is a tad disingenuous to say.....

Can't believe the criticism...thought this was the easiest match against stoke I've ever seen. Butland made a few great saves, assisted by some wasteful finishing.Sanchez and Theo both shouldve got hattricks in 1st half. Watched Ozil closely in first half and he never stopped moving, always finding space. Silly yellow card. Coquelin was outstanding, why are there even questions over his quality? Stopped stoke, played it simple and was effective. Carzola was average as was Ramsey. Simply, drop ssnti, move Ramsey to the middlr, play Ozil in his best positon. An easy victory. Anyone, notice the difference Gabriel made?

Did Gabriel have a good game? Would be nice for him to get a run, think Per is finished.

People will have a moan whatever, had we beaten them 6-0 people would complain that we are flat track bullies and that all is now perfect in Wengerland.

For me the pertinent point is that both of our mega-bucks strikers yet again missed a hatful of chances, as they have done so far and as they will do all season. That's not going to change.

YOU DONT WIN TITLES WITH STRIKERS LIKE GIROUD AND WALCOTT.

Seen a stat somewhere today. Cant remember where, that in 11 games that Gabriel has played we have won 10 and drew one.
Possiblyy from twitter so its probably shit.

"you know quite well..", "disingenuous", "OBG was obviously.."

Think what you like, but I wasn't on the wind up at all. Although obviously highlighting those comments I made whilst deleting the rest of the text will certainly give everyone that impression.

No probs Gooner we mere mortals are used to members of the Clique doing such things

I don't think it was coincidence that the PA blasted out this at the end of the game when everyone was leaving the bowl.

I think Gabriel is a real player. Would love to see him continue starting with Kos, but you know AW is not going to let that happen.

Any danger the FA will probe him for that swinging elbow in the second half? I'd also like to see him build a partnership with Kos abead of the big pussy who misses so many game due to illness. Man the fuck up.

Good solid result, frightening how many chances we can create when we are playing well and the opposition are shit.

As with most i'm happy with the result but still concerned over the number of easy chances missed, but at least they both scored today might boost their confidence

Thought Ozil was excellent again but still as with others really can't see how Ramsey gets in ahead of Ox

Oh well 2nd place makes me happy :barscarf:

He really is a despot.

I so wish he would fuckoff.
Spot on. Whenever somebody criticizes in the slightest, he visibly bristles, the body stiffens and the stubborness sets in. The moment Gary Neville gave that excellent critique of where we are and what we needed to do, any faint hope of us strengthening flew out the window. You could just imagine Wenger listening to that and thinking, I'll show the lot of you. Stubborn, old tyrant.

Lets all laugh as chance after chance is missed. We did get away with it yesterday because Stoke were so poor. But thats no excuse for not hammering our two "strikers".Walcott has missed 6 sitters in the last 2 games Yes we won but don't bury you head in the sand about how poor Walcott was

This game (and this weekend generally) served only to confirm a number of things most of us have already known for a long time

1. Stoke are a bunch of absolute cowardly c.unts who roll over and die when they come to our place. In the first half you'll struggle to see a more pathetic bunch of toothless wankers all season

2. The Prem is stuffed with bang average teams and a fair sprinkling of dross and there is absolutely zero chance of us finishing outside the top 4

3. Playing Ramsey out wide will continue to give the most mediocre of full backs a "pipe and slippers" day and take the edge of every single attack we have down that flank

4. We won't ever make a substitution before 70 minutes unless there's an injury

5. The more frustrated we get, the more Alexis will try to beat their entire defence on his own

6. Walcott will cause teams problems over the top, but will continue to spurn the sort of chances that leave you shaking your head in disbelief

7. Wenger will never believe in the Ox as a regular starter

8. Stoke fans are absolute c.unts - nice little chorus of Ingerlund Ingerlund about 20 mins from the end when Butland was their only English player out there. Fuckwits
