I didnt explain myself properly earlier on this subject and I apologise - being able and willing to head a ball as a centre back is a good starting point but that is all it is. I have only seen this cueller fella once (last night) and he didnt look that impressive in the air but I certainly dont rate alex song as the dominant centre half that this team so badly needs. The whole purpose of a transfer window is that it allows a team to upgrade in what they already have and although he wouldnt be a transfer signing he is still only average and certainly is no upgrade
We already have an average 1st choice keeper an average pair of wingers so we really need to be improving instead of going sidewards

Because Arsene picked Song for Man Utd away means nothing. He pick that clown Stepanovs up there in 2001 (6-1 defeat).Lets just go out and buy a commanding CB.Swale_Gooner1985 wrote:I can not understand why so many of you have problems with Alex Song, he is clearly good with stunning potential! Wenger knows at the end of the day and he didnt trust him he would not have picked him against Man Utd away would he!
Trust me Song has a good future and hopefully at Arsenal

Replacing Kolo would be pure idiocy however. If we're bringing in a world class centre back he should replace gallasdonaldo wrote:We dont need good back up we need someone to come in and replace Gallas or Toure. We have all said for the last two seasons that both of them dont work as a pairBergkamp95 wrote:True he is better than senderos would be good backup for next season.

True, but its a better indication than from wenger buys most of his players from. ie North Bazak Region League 3 or where ever he finds em.dvbrisgooner1 wrote:Song is the perfect cover for Kolo. Play him alongside Kolo and you have the same troubles we've had the past two years.
Cuellar looks pretty dominant in the air, from what I've seen. But SPL and UEFA Cup are not the Premier League and the Champions League.
Oh he is good and I'm a fan but as cb cover or in dm, not a regular cb for us. I was delighted when he won over the fans this season but look at our record with him at cb, we have never looked certain when he has played there, be it against Burnley or Man UI can not understand why so many of you have problems with Alex Song, he is clearly good with stunning potential! Wenger knows at the end of the day and he didnt trust him he would not have picked him against Man Utd away would he!

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail claims 'Tottenham have added Rangers defender Carlos Cuellar to their wish list for the summer following his superb debut season in Scotland.'
The newspaper speculates that the youngster would cost around £10m - a steep fee considering he was brought to Glasgow last summer for less than £3m.
What a surprise!
