Sheffield Wednesday Away Pubs

Post by mattyj3nks »

Morning all,

Is there a designated away pub for us next Tuesday?

A group of us are travelling by car so are wondering where would be best to park as the city centre is an hour walk to the ground.
Would be easier for us to park nearer the ground but then a pain if all away fans will be in the city centre.

I imagine a lot will travel on the clubs coaches due to train problems and that they will get dropped near the ground.

Any help would be much appreciated so I can plan my route as will take a few hours to get there.

Yeh I'm getting the coach; just can't argue with £10 return. Footballgroundguide says this about drinking in the stadium:

'500ml bottles of Carling were on sale at the not so cheap price of £3.50 a bottle. You also have to queue separately for beer or food, which wasn't great.' Cans of John Smith's Bitter (£3.30), Guinness (£3.80), plus bottles of Kingston Press (£3.70) and Bulmers Cider (£3.80) are also available as well as minature bottles of wine (£4.50) and spirits (£4.50).

Apparently there are a few pubs not too far from the ground, but with such a huge away following (there's about 4,500 of us) I'm not sure they will be letting in away fans. I've asked a mate of mine who is a Wednesday fan for recommendations.

The red lion on the A61 has been mentioned.
Its about 35-40 minute walk to the ground.

Another 2 which have also been mentioned are the Horse & Jockey, and the railway.

Would be good if we could find out where most will be heading to get a good atmosphere before the match
