Cant comment on his contribution for ozil's goal, but other than that I am amazed that so many of you are bigging up bellerin's performance tonight   Costa absolutely tore him a new one (especially in the first half) and make him look like the inexperienced kid that he is - I absolutely believe that he is gonna be a top player for us (if we keep barca away from him  ) but nights like tonight should serve as a reminder to us that he is still inexperienced and not top drawer yet, and should be allowed to develop without any unrealistic expectations

As for green/inexperienced players, did anyone notice how easily coquelin was by-passed tonight ? No doubt that he was up against some top quality midfielders, but he isn't at that level and should be the back up DM to a top quality DM

Have to say that I was surprised by BFG's performance tonight - of late his lack of pace has really started to catch up on him (that yellow on Saturday was woeful  ), but tonight (especially in the first 20 minutes) his positioning and interceptions were crucial.

Overall I have to say that I really enjoyed the game (at least the first 70 minutes of it  ) - it was great to see two big clubs go head to head without any of the cagey bullshit that is so common nowadays 8)

Btw does the other result help or hinder us ? :?
had the same issue myself augie, just for future reference if you switch to channel 273 on sky you get the standard definition of tv3

On the defensive side he will also have learned an awful lot up against the awesome Douglas Costa. I think it's fairly safe to say Debuchy's Arsenal career is dead in the water.

DB10GOONER wrote:Brilliant team performance. And in fairness to Wenger he got it right. If we had gone toe to toe in an attacking passing duel with Bayern we would have lost. Sitting deep, with excellent positional discipline (mostly) and popping the odd one over the top for Theo to chase was the way to go. Theo just running at the Bayern CH's had them nervous and they seemed reluctant as a team at times to really get into our box, fearful of that pace on the break. Theo didn't play that well but his presence and running served us hugely.

Nacho was brilliant again. Not many LB's can put Müller in their pocket. Think augie is being just a tad harsh on Bellerin tbh. He was up against a seriously brilliant player in Costa and I thought he did well. Also that burst and muscle in the 90+ minute to set up Ozil was fearsome.

Cech showed his class and cool. Flawless game. His best save was the one with his elbow, happened so quick the commentators though Kos had got a foot to it but the replay showed Cech stopped it. Just pure brilliant instinctive keeping.

I thought Sanchez worked hard again but he gave away 3 really bad balls whilst over-elaborating. He looked drained when he came off. Maybe another rest called for?

Ozil was class. A calming intelligent man to have in a midfield constantly on the back foot. Some of his passes were sublime. Santi too, on the back foot for 70% of the game, but worked his guts out and gave some top class passes.

Special word for augie's idol the Big German Pussy. He was brilliant. Yeah, the game suited him, but credit where it's due, he looked like the Mert of a couple seasons ago. 8)

Giroudzema had a huge impact when he came on. It's been said before that Bayern's central defence doesn't like it on top of them and Giroudzema's physical presence upset them. He did what a striker should do for his goal, play the percentages and get in where it hurts. The fact he scored with his face and his hand shouldn't take away from an important goal! :D

The only weak player for me was unfortunately Rambo again. Yes, he worked his arse off running but he just cannot stop pissing possession away needlessly. In a game where we needed to limit their possession him going off with a hammy was actually to our advantage.

Also, anyone that can't put the Wenger hate away and enjoy a legendary victory needs to go get some fucking help with their life. :x

Speaking of which, where is Moron-hio's rent boy? :rubchin:

:D
Yup! that about sums it up.:high5: :D

We all go on about (me included) that Wenger doesn't 'Do Tactics' and how he doesn't set up to accommodate / negate / defeat other teams- and yet in one of the post match interviews (BBC) he said

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34589362

"We decided to make it tight in our final third and catch them on the break" ... Which we all witnessed...Now call it what you like but that IS tactics.cofnused ?? :? - Yeah me too.

ps; fuckk of nayern, guardiola and neuer (big headed ceeeeunt)..

Rambo,Theo and Ox are so un-tidy in possession.

Why can't this weakness be coached out of them.

Did make me laugh how incompetent they were - saying the full time whistle had gone, when I could clearly see the line judge and ref pointing to the centre circle, signalling a goal and the players celebrating with Ozil (the scorer)

Ox looked soooooo embarraseed to have ballooned the rebound over the bar, lucky boy it got given.

Agreed that Ramsey and Sanchez gave the ball away frequently, Sanchez needs to be told to stop coming deep to collect it cause he overdoes it in dangerous area's - stay up front as an outlet. Carzola and Ozil can do the set up play.

They have again shown that they can work hard, can put in a defensive shift and can pull off the big result......why does it not happen more frequently ? Complacency ? Arrogance ? Lacking respect for opponents ?

A change of attitude permanently could see this team really progress.

A counter- attack is far more exiting to see than a tip- tap 50 pass move which invariably breaks down.

Yes mate agree with that, some of the counter attacking play the other night was exhilarating

sticking my neck out here but if the defence puts in another performance like that, seriously think they have a chance in Munich of getting at least a point
